That is just east of Cold Lake/Bonnyville. Really good deer hunting despite the numerous Indian Reserves in this area. IMO, they tend to hunt more moose then WT deer. So buy a map from the local Rural Municipality Office to legally ensure you are on crownland and far from an I.R. or on private owned land. Be fairly warned, these can be a very long long ways apart in the province of Saskatchewan. So google locations and comfirm opening hours before departing home. Upland species birds hunting should be pretty darn good. I often wonder why I don't just purcahse a licence for ruffies/grey partridge, but I think sharptails are a no-no for us non-resident bird hunters. As I live in Alberta, not Saskatchewan. If you own a handgun, there is an outdoor range I do believe, because in PA I've met at least one avid handgun shooter from the Meadow Lake area. Recreational fishing is still pretty darn reasonable there too, from what friends tell me. As far as waterfowling along the waterways, I really don't know if this is a major western flyway, much like Saskatchewan Landings area, near the town of Kyle.
Welcome to the western provinces friend! (But keep a stash of cash for your financially hurtful, out-of-province vehicle inspection. SGI can be brutal)
Edit: Saskatchewan is very very organized as far as two interests I have/had, 3D archery (lapsed) and formal bullseye pistol shooting. Youth leagues for both shooting disciplines also. For those interested this is popular Bonspiel country. (curling)
