Hello.
My MP-153's barrel has been bulged 2.5mm in diameter about 300mm from the chamber. What options do I have? (exept buying a new gun).
Can it be fixed?
Can I buy new barrel? Where? It has same number as on the frame. Can be used barrel with different number or without number? Is it interchangeble with SPR 453?
I love this gun and if I will have to buy a new one I would stick with a same one.

From memory that was very common years ago and please correct me if wrong but did they not make a barrel for lead shot only and a different one for steel ahot. Lead shot only barrels were very thin and would bulge easily Were you using steel shot by any chance?? There was a special mark on the barrel for steel shot models like a lilly or something like that if I recall. I remember reading about it in the manual. May be different now I don't know
Do you have the manual to check.

There are no lead shot or steel shot barrels. There are lead chokes and steel chokes.

@ Vetal,
Sorry about the bulge. A barrel from another mp-153 would fit in most cases. Unfortunately, I don't think replacement barrels were imported. Anyways, spare barrels are never cheap. You might want to buy another mp-153 (and use the older one for spare parts).

Are you 100% sure on that?? Here is the answer I got today from a smith that has worked on these.
With the correct choke tubes yes one can fire steel shot out of both however only the barrels that do have this insignia stamped have been factory proofed tested with steel shot the others have not. Thus to be 100% sure and safe I would recommend only using such a barrel with steel shot that has the insigna..

Thanks to all for help.
Problem solved. I brought the gun to Baikal Canada (where I bought it) and they gave me another barrel. Not brand new but like a mirror inside. It was from store return. They said if anything is wrong just bring in back for exchange.
It has steel shot symbol and all chokes have "steel" mark.

Wow some of the other manufacturer's could learn something here about customer service. Real glad to hear it worked out for you. I just picked up my 1st baikal from a member and have to say doesn't look too bad at all for the price. A little 28ga SXS, bit short on the LOP but nothing a new pad won't fix. Just wondering did the one that bulged have the symbol also???take care

My cocking handle keeps falling out so I epoxied it ,the Camo dip has peeled off in sections on the gun the entire pistol grip camo dip is gone .I lost the sight bead the screw came out of the sling clamp And I often cut my knucle on the action , I find it jams or doesn't close > I am not a fan the gun is 3 yrs old I wouldn't buy another
