I guess it depends on how bad you want to use low or standard velocity ammo in it.
Option A would be to start cutting coils on the recoil spring. The less spring tension the higher the probability of the slide running it's full cycle with low power ammo. The consequence is that full power ammo with the same spring will generate a higher wear rate.
Option B is polishing for smoother cycling and less chance of binding. This depends on where the friction points are and how easy it is to buff them up. What you can try first is to put a touch of mild polishing compound on the frame rails and in the slide channel. Alot of polishing compounds are wax oil based so technically you're lubing as you polish. This will slightly accelerate the break in period, and by letting the slide and frame buff each other out you avoid any Dremel based disasters.
