Hello experts,

I have a 1946 longbranch 22 trainer marked MP? I believe that's military police? Was wondering if anyone has seen this before. If they are at all common?

I think the MP in this context is for mounted police, meaning RCMP

Hello, Derek:

When I went through RCMP recruit training in Depot Division at Regina in 1964 we used Lee Enfield C No. 7 Mark 1 .22 caliber rifles for target shooting. The MP stamp on the left side of the receiver was applied by force armourer.
