let's start taking bets
I'm putting $5 on prohib.
As the real STG-44 is already classified as a Restricted firearm we are hoping for a Non-Restricted classification due to the longer barrel length for the GSG version.
correction the real stg-44 is prohibited as its either a fullauto or a converted auto we should be ok as its NOT named by OIC
I vote it'll go restricted
Dear Zuke,
They should be non restricted. The larger calibre center fire semi auto is restricted due to its 16 inch barrel. The minimum barrel length for a center semi auto to be non restricted is 18.5 and it has to be over 26 inches long. All rim fire firearms have to be over 26 inches long to fall in the non restricted category.

There's that word again, should. Should work, should fit should be non-restricted.
I don't own any restricted for my own reason's.But I have no faith in the legal system.
If the come out as non's then great! I might get one.
A friend of mine over a year ago picked up this really cool looking restricted 22.Looked like an AR so he could practice instead of burning up expensive ammo.
30 rd mag's and all,it was great he said.
Then the rumour's start and he get's a notice he HAS to block them all at 10rd's.

Lets not forget that GSG has packaged this gun as a "replica assault rifle".
That alone worries me on the classification. Wouldn't be the first time the RCMP prohibited something based on how it was marketed...
The GSG isn't a replica assault rifle. It's a 22 Lr version the German WW II firearm. It's a reproduction of it in cosmetics alone. The internal design is completely different.
AK-22?
What's that MP-5 look-a-like 22 that didn't make it?
