Naval boarding parties (west coast) have/are transitioning to C8 variant

I wonder if that is a decision based on logistics standardization, or the fact that a 9mm MP5 lacks stopping power except for near point blank distances?

I think it may be partially logistics - there are obvious advantages, but as usual they take it just one step too far - like issuing infantry LBV's to guys who wear floater vests. Strangely, they've decided to graft the HK single point sling to the C8 as no other sling in the system met requirements. I will say that I'd hate to have to discharge a short barrelled AR in the confined, steel walled companionways of a ship.
