Mp7...

No offense Pat. I just think a gun like that should be within reach of most folks. It's plastic, stamped and forged steel and if ya look at it there is NO WAY that thing should command prices like that.

The market for those guns is artificially inflated and I wish you well in selling it. Hopefully you recover your investment.

It should be in the reach of most folk, however right now there are (again) maybe 1 or 2 available in Canada right now.

I wouldn't have bought one for 12 grand and then sold it for 2000 bucks. Thats just silly :p

It's not much worst than those 9K$ G36 and UMP. it's all about rarity. I guess you are only screwd if some more get into the market like what happen to the PS90 and FS2000.

I never regreted buying that MP7, that's for sure.

I heard fiochhi is making ammo for it now, so technically if you can get an importer to bring some in, it should be easy to get.

Good stuff Pat. I guess what I was trying to say was that I would like to see the MP7 come out of the collector's market and into the shooter's market. Again - I didn't mean to slag you or be a dink to anyone.

I would love to know what the margins are on these black guns though. Consider the AR15 for example: they are mass produced by the millions. Injection molded polymers, stamped steel parts, castings. The machining is nothing either, the CNC machines can run 24 hours a day punching out components.

How much does it cost Bushmaster or Stag or any of those guys to make the rifle? How many middle men are in there before it gets to the gun shop? How much do those cretins in gubbermint get? Shoot - by the time these guns get to the poor slob that has to sell them to us - I have heard the margins are absolutely dismal.

Were it not for all the pigs at the trough...how much 'should' a good AR15 cost? Just looking at the materials, quality, fit and finish of guns like S&W and Bushmaster...I figure these guns should cost the same as a Marlin lever gun or any chit house Ruger bolt gun. Between 700~950 bucks max. I personally believe these guns have all kinds of hidden taxes thrown on them because they frighten liberals and antigun bed wetters.

Sorry for the quick hijack here but, attitude? Near as I can tell, he was just looking for the best place to ask his question.

Really??

Acutally??

It is more a case of "well I know that there are rules and we have definitions as to what belongs where..............but.........those rules and definitions do not apply to me because I am an extra special case and will post what ever I want where ever I want.
If you do not think that a post belongs in a particular place.............then perhaps you should put it where you think it belongs!!

The truth of the matter is of course that he is dead wrong in the Black Rifles forum being the "best" place to ask his question. If he had kept it to a general question such as "how can one find out how many of a particular firearm are in Canada and posted it in GD then he would have openned it up to a much larger audience. However in keeping it to a specific example (MP7) and posting in the Black Rifles area he has greatly limited his audience. So he was wrong on 2 counts.

The guy asked an honest question, slagging him for it is pretty rude......and I know alot about being rude :p

.

Oh the question is totally honest of that I have no doubt. It is acutally a really good question at that.

I have ZERO problem with the question at all, none what so ever.

It was the prelude to the question that is problematic.

Of course if you had READ what I wrote and noted that I only quoted a portion (the aformentioned prelude) you would have caught on to that.

I read it, your the only one complaining about it though.....drink coffee....relax :D

.

Well I would not expect anyone who does not have to move posts to their proper fourms to complain. That would be unreasonable. It is also reasonable to expect people to post in the correct areas, the much should be plain. The really funny part is without the prelude there was nothing about the OPs thread to cause much fuss at all.

Oh and to make it really interesting.......and almost spooky.
I am actually sitting here drinking tea (do not drink coffee) watching "a clockwork orange" ................if that does not beat all.

(edit to add............for those who are not fans, the OPs avatar is taken from the movie "a clockwork orange".

Seems to me this is the proper forum, the subtitle is "Assault rifles and SMGs for people with good taste." MP7 is an SMG right?

Sure it is. But not everyone thinks that an SMG chambered in 4.6x30mm is in good taste, especially as the ammo is unobtainium.

I'm sure that most people, given a choice between MP5 & MP7 would pick the MP5 because it has available ammo for it.

ah but only if his "actual" question had anything to do with MP7s my good man.

Heck he even appologized for the misleading title..............which it appears you fell for.

I've read through the thread, and I have to admit that the prices being bantered about give me the shakes. There's no way I'd be able to even *dream* of spending more than a couple grand on a gun. Tops. I guess it's because I couldn't justify spending that much on something I couldn't make money off of or something... or that doesn't sail or run on wheels;)

But I'm impressed that some of you can do it. All the power to you.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but, he did mention mp7 several times. Not like there is a checklist for us when we post so we can make sure we chose the correct forum.

Actually, I have never seen or really knew anything about MP7's, so I googled this. Pretty interesting looking gun.
