I picked up my M&P9 last week but as of yet have not had a chance to take it to the range(long story) Tonight I decided to read through the manual that came with it and just field strip it. Everything seems back together properly, I'm just wondering what it should sound like when one dry fires it? To me right now it sounds just like a faint spring clip release....
I even went onto you-tube to view some videos to see if I performed the field strip properly and from all account the gun is back the way it should be.

If unsure, field strip again and reassemble. ACT/PROVE the gun safe of course. Rack the slide and verify safeties work. With the pistol pointing in a safe direction, insert the rubber end of a pencil all the way down the barrel and pull the trigger. If it is working properly, the pencil should forcefully eject from the barrel.

Did you push the the little yellow disconnector back into postion after you reassembled it?
(you can do this by just inserting an empty mag after reassembly, or with your finger).
