For those of you thinking about getting a mp9 you might be concern about all the reliability issues discussed in the past about this gun and it's inherent in-accuracy.
Well, you might be concern or not, I was so I decided to check online sources with real experience, people who have handled many firearms, like nutnfancy and hickok45 (youtube), if you have not heard about them check them out in Youtube, they are great source for real and honest information about new and old designs. Both of them DIE HARD fans of Glock, and both of them LOVED the MP, that is why I went with the MP9.

I have chosen the 9mm because it is cheaper to shoot and because I love that caliber and I am very good shooting it (I am good shooting any caliber up to 45, but 9mm is the one I am fan of right now).
So here is my review (?), this is probably review #3000 of the mp9. Anyway, this is not a review since I would have to have the gun for a couple years before reviewing anything, but more of a 'table top' initial test, with some shooting at different distances.
I have put 300 hundred rounds in the last 24-48 hrs, the gun is brand new and have had NO malfunctions, cero, nada.
Ammo used was factory ammo, Blazer in 115 and 124, both of them shoot the same in my gun, both very accurate.

I have tried the gun at 6 yards, 10, 15 and 25.
Grouping at 6 is less than 1 inch, 10 around 1.5/2 inch, 15 2.5/3 and 25 I managed an average of 4inch, with a couple being under around 3 inch, taking a small brake of 5 second in between shot, resting the gun on the table, aiming again and shooting. I was impressed.

I wanted to take a video but my phone died when I was about to do it. I will take a video next time at the range. I do have photos with a group of around 3" at 25 yards, this is from a stand up position. Weird to me, I can't get the gun to group from a ransom rest, but I do group VERY WELL standing up. It has to do with the way I hold the gun when in the rest position that just throws me off every time.

I am impressed with the accuracy of the mp9, the trigger to me has nothing to be improved. I do not care about the grittiness of it (yes it is gritty in the FS model), I just can't feel anything when shooting, I am focus on the target and the take up, it's just that, a take up. Then the trigger stops right before it is ready to break, making it VERY easy to know you are about to go BANG. It works very well, and I can shoot much better than a G17 gen 3.
Resent seems ok to me, (which it is noticeable and audible now, not as much as in Glock, but better). If you have not tried the new mp9, please do.

On the other hand, the glock has a better finish and overall it looks way more durable than the MP9. The finish in the slide is ok on the mp9, glock is better I would say perfect. Mp9 shows tooling marks inside the slide, literally like someone tried to drill through the slide a few times, you can see the tip of a drill bit and the crates crated by the tip of a drill bit where the barrel goes (right on the top, behind the fron sight, inside the slide). This is not something to worry about and probably something done at the factory to remove material from the slide in order to make it lighter or fit the barrel (my guess) I will take photos of that later on and post them on a new thread. So overall machining winner is GLOCK. To me, trigger and accuracy MP9 hands down, although I am sure I can get as good with the glock as I am with mp9 with some range time.

This MP9 has the new sear block, with improved reset.

This is not a comparison, just giving my opinion on how it felt TO ME. I love the glock design as well.

I will try to take some video footage on the next range visit and shot some 25 yard targets so I can show what I am talking about.
Overall, I am happy I went the mp9 road, I will do it again. I still want a PPQ though, lol.

Cheers.

In this video of a mp40 (hickok45) you can see the drill bits holes I was talking about, this gun has them too, in different places so makes me think is due to barrel fitting. Nothing to worry about (at least for me). I am no expert so pardon my ignorance.
Cheers.

hickok45 is the man! Excellent shooter with no nonsense videos. I bought a M&P because it is a comfortable gun and I thought that my wife would like shooting it. That being said it is no match compared to my HK P30L. As far as Glocks go, my mother always told me that if I don't have anything good to say about something, say nothing at all. Once you own and shoot HK's ( the original polymer) you won't ever want to shoot a Glock. Once come I hear the word Glock come out of your mouth, I stop listing, but to each there own. The grip on the Walther PPQ feels tiny in my hand. It feels very much like the grip on the little plastic squirt gun that I bought from Walmart for shooting my cat.

Haven't shot a HK yet, not a fan of polymer gun with hammers, for some reason I believe in hammers for metal gun (just a perception). I think the PPQ is a great gun, and very popular in EUROPE, I am looking forward to owning one once Walther starts selling them on their own next year.
Cheers!

I have seen this video so many times! lol. Mine is not the PRO though, I got the FS. I am uploading a video I did with my phone 2 days ago. Not that I am trying to be Hickok45 or anythng, just trying out my gun from a standing position, I did pretty well (I think, I started shooting pistol 1 week ago, I have been shooting other activities for the last 12 months). Video will be uploaded shortly.

I have an M&P 9 as well and while I like it, the sights from the factory are super off. Like 8" low off. It's been discussed in other threads so I won't go into it here. I put on a small laser on the lower rail and now it shoots like it should. It's easy to tear Doen and feels good in the hand. For the price, I think it's pretty good. I'm not a glock guy so this was my choice. :)

My factory sights shoot straight in mine. I have read the problem was people aligning the white dots poorly, I align the sights on the top edge and shoot straight. It might ave been that batch of guns maybe. Who knows. I am uploading a video shooting from 25 yards (I have been trying since last night but youtube is not letting me).

Here is the video, it's kind of ridiculous but I was just trying 25 yards that day. It is good to keep the records, so I can compare it with other days, this particular day I was doing very well (in my book). I just started shooting pistol only 1 week ago and I am hooked with it, so much, that I join the IDPA club in my range. Cheers.

I tried to replicate that yesterday and my groups were wayyyy bigger, hotter, windier, completely different weather conditions change my shooting apparently.
In the video I said that the 3rd group is about 4 inches, but it is actually 3, since it is the the length of my finger and my finger is exactly 3 inches. So there is that, lol, anyway, 4 inch for is great too! There is a flyer though, but since I am shooting standing and handheld I would say 'it's ok?'...
Thanks for wtching the video. Cheers!

I did a video yesterday this time from a resting position, I managed to group the gun at 3 inches consistently, it is hard due to the way I grip the gun (and my lack of experience as a pistol shooter) but the groups obviously as soon as I removed as much human error as possible with the use of a rest.
Let me know if there is anyone interested in seeing it (for the sake of MP9 accuracy myth) and I will upload it.

I'm always interested in seeing good tests, but you're not going to effectively address a widely claimed issue with a sample size of one. You've shown that your particular pistol doesn't seem to have any accuracy issues (I'm glad yours works!), but this doesn't tell us anything about the existence or non-existence of other M&P9s that might have accuracy issues.

Unfortunately, the only way to do that would be to have a "good shooter" shoot those particular "problem pistols" and demonstrate that accuracy is a non-issue with those particular pistols. That has happened in some cases. But some other cases (more than a few, actually) show that dropping a different barrel into some particular "problem pistols" eliminates the accuracy issue with the original shooter. That seems pretty conclusive evidence that some particular M&P 9s have had accuracy issues somehow related to the original barrel.

My M&P9 doesn't appear to be a problem pistol, either, but that doesn't mean that some problem pistols might exist (it's impossible to prove non-existence). All makes and models of guns have accuracy that varies between particular guns, and there is some pretty good evidence that it is (or at least, was) greater with the M&P9 than it is for other models. Current production appears to have resolved the issue (various reports), but it does take time to flush out the "internet memory" of the apparent problem.

yes you are correct, I guess there is no point in keeping doing this with this particular gun. I am glad it works well too! I was actually impressed with the groups I got yesterday.
Also, (as you mentioned) a good shooter behind the gun makes a big difference, I noticed that any slight change I do to my grip or trigger pull changed the groups completely even from the rest, so there is that, although I assume that is for every pistol. I am not that consistent with my technique yet, but I am practicing very often and I am hoping to get better and better. I have to say that I really like this gun and I am thinking of getting a PRO version now.
