Mr Ethical, Have or would you?

For the first time, i shot a bear in a tree.

My GF's family has a farm and her 88 year old grandparents live on it.

They often have bears roaming the farm, and don't think much of it, but at times they need to be controlled.

This one particular bear had been raiding the personal vegetable garden and even going so far as to rip down and eat the grape vines that grew up thier house!

The grapevine is just outside their bedroom, and the bear had been been aggressive to both grandparents and dogs, so I was called in:p

First evening I am there, the bear didn't' show until long after I was gone, but had come to rip up grapes again in the middle of the night.

Second night I was out in the back area,to see if he came in that way- Nope. Got rained on alot, though. He must be coming from the front, across the river area...

I walked back to the front and some folks yelled at me "bear is by the house!

The bear got charged by the dogs and ran up a tree in the front yard of the grandparents house, no more than 5 steps from the front door!

He was a medium sized bear and I shot him with my .375 Ruger with 270gr TSX bullets, which made an impact on him. I wished I had brought my newish 45 colt trapper rifle instead.

Do I feel bad about shooting a bear in the tree ? Not at all. It was making life uncomfortable for 2 octogenarians that I am fond of, it's bear season and I had a tag. My only regret is that I didn't get to try out my new rifle.:p
