Mr. Friendly Needs His SKS taken away!!

He's just lazy I think...needs to build a new Desk top pc...had the last....oh since January it's still sitting in parts in boxes. I'm all for the Drill Sergeant approach on Mr. Friendly. He also has a P17, Marlin XL7 (30-06) a Browning Auto-5, Baikal SxS, Savage G 22LR hopefully they hold up better then the SKS did under his abuse. The P17 is stashed in the back of my gun cabinet and same with one of the shotguns when I leave which one is YET to be seen. The P17 needs to be sanded down both metal and wood Metal re-blued (cold) wood re-oiled as it's old and the person Mr. F got it from never did anything to save it from deteriorating. I'm not inclined to do the work if the SKS is any show of how the guns will be treated...

erm... i have not cleaned mine since shooting it for the first time last weekend and again this wekend...

oops.

For some reason i think it was actually shooting better this time than before :D

Bad Mr friendly, should not take very long to give it a basic clean up.

I forgot about mine for a week last month when I took it out only had a little rust you could see coming out so I spend a bit and cleaned it up good.

Now I make sure to clean it first thing when I get back home from shooting.

an hour!!! thats crazy... the most Ive ever spent is maybee 30 minutes... But I let all the part soak in a can of CLP for a few days....

I have a TT-33 thats been soaking for 2 weeks now... all I did was take off the grips...

Should be clean by saterday... :)

To each their own... My GAF factor when it comes to cleaning is 0 ...

Unless you put 1000 plus rounds through your firearm at the range a full cleaning isn't really warrented.

I run a couple wipes thru the barrel of my p226 and it's at 1300 rounds without a full cleaning.

I can understand cleaning the corrosive stuff out, but if your storage arrangements easily manage the moisture in the air, you likely will not have a problem even if you don't clean it.

To me, firearms are like vehicles... you don't have to change the oil every time you pull out of the driveway, just at reasonable intervals.

Put it this way if gun is worth less then 200$ I dont waste my time cleaning it... So all my guns fall into that category.... :) I did order a Canadian Forces Edition .45 APC... I might Have to get a .50 cal Ammo can full of CLP to let that one soak in after range trips...

Hey Tucson,
This test says CLP is better than WD40 as a rust preventive. I'm getting a can of CLP soon for sure. I have no doubt your 200 dollar firearms are in as good a shape as anybody else's that have been watered down, scrubbed and lubed the conventional way. I know mine are.
