My impatience is kicking in again. Is it Monday yet?
Well anyways, here's my final thoughts on this until Monday does finally arrive;
I don't think it is any of the rifles that anyone here has mentioned thus far. Nothing about it from what we can see so far has any exact resemblance to anything that we know is currently awaiting Canadian approval or that is currently in production.
I'm going to say that it is something totally new to the market that they have been working on for some time now and have managed to keep hush hush. Hopefully they've keep it hush hush long enough that once they release the info tomorrow it is ready to put in customers hands. Or at minimum, is approved and ready to start production.
So now back to the real question. What is it?
I'm still going with something that is NR 5.56. Possibly some AR resemblance or parts compatibility. And affordable.
-NR based on barrel length.
-5.56 (not 308 as someone suggested) based on how soft shooting it is.
-adjustable gas block shown doesn't seem appropriate for it to be a DI system, so I'm going to say possibly short stroke piston driven.
-rear AR charging handle (or similar rear charge mechanism).
-AR carbine length collapsible buttstock assembly.
-proprietary handguard or possibly even monolithic (extruded) upper receiver/intigrated handguard. I make this point because I originally thought it to be a standard AR15 free float handguard but on a closer look it doesn't have the proper shape or profile to be a standard AR free float tube.
-detachable lower that accepts STANAG mags and common AR15 trigger groups and lower parts kits.
I haven't got much else to add so I guess for now I'll wait it out and see how far out to lunch I am with my analysis.
Maybe if someone who has access to check FRT'S could take a peek we may find out if something new has just been approved?
Please don't get the pitch forks out. I may be totally wrong. I'm just playing the guessing game like the rest of ya.
