I have been having jamming issues with my MR1 .223. I can get a few shots out then it jambs, I have tried cleaning the best I know how, but not positive on what to clean for built up carbon on gas side. Ive tried lots of different ammo since i bought it. Total round count would not be much over 100. It has done this since pretty much new. I have tried looking for proper cleaning videos of literature but can't seem to find any, lots on take down of rifle.
Any help would be great thanks!

You say it jams but you don't give enough details. Is the case stuck in the chamber? Does the thing stovepipe on you? Does the bolt over ride the next cartridge in the mag. Thing about gas impingement actions is that they really like the bolt/carrier assembly to be well lubed. More details will let someone help you more effectively.

It shouldn't be dirty. It uses the ERGO system. My cousin has put thousands of rounds through his with minimal attention. However, when he put a scope on it, the cases were hitting the mount nut and bouncing back into the chamber. Once we took a slow motion video and saw what was going on, he traded the Leupold mount for a Burris and the troubles ended.

You have that backwards tenguns. I lost the Burris pepr mount and switched to Leupold one piece. But I do agree with the diagnostic. Make sure that your brass is not hitting any hardware on your scope mount. More details would help!

Sorry. That was years ago! Have you cleaned it yet? I just know that I can't put the Leupold mount on my Swiss because it's in the way of the charging handle.

I don't clean it. I wait until I leave it with you. You usually clean it right?.... Lol

I will try and remove scope to see if that makes a difference. Leopolds on it right now. I have three different mags all do the same. When I say it's jamming it has a cartridge halfway in the pipe and the bolt has it wedged. Thought bolt wasn't coming back far enough at the start. But now I've had a couple times where the bolt is pushing at the base of case and the nose of the bullet hits ackward and wedges too which is some kinda feeding problem.

is the mr1 in stock form ? do you have a picture of the jam ? I dont think it is the scope but you may try without it first.

Have used soft point and hollow point. All factory loads Winchester, hornady, surplus, nosler. Will see if I can get some pictures to load when I get some shots out. I took off scope and tried that. Not sure if it was a whole lot better but could get five out a few times before it jammed.

Does it do that with the factory mag?

Sounds like the front edge of the mags you are using are too sharp and are resisting the cartridge coming out of them smooth.

I've had that quite a bit and had to file many of my mags so they'd work. (the leading edge)

Sounds like a mag problem to me.

When you insert a fresh mag and pull back the bolt, then release, does it slam shut?
