First time out with the brand new MRR18.6" and we managed this:
\

100m
MRR18.6
Magpul MOE stock
Triggertech
16x scope
Berger VLD 70gr with 23gr of Varget.

While this is pretty good in itself, we tried various ammo. 55gr AE (~3"), 62gr X-Tac(+2.5"), Some factory OTM 69gr (~2"), Norinco surplus (~4"). The results were average overall, about on par with what I can do with an ACOG and my IUR.

23gr of powder was our first try and it ended up shooting the best for reloads. As soon as we tried 23.2gr of powder, groupings doubled up in sizes. Same results for 23.4gr. We also had a couple of rounds that didn't feed properly and for now I am blaming this on the reloads.

While I never expected the MRR18.6" to suddenly shoot Norinco surplus in nice 2" groups, I expected better results from the X-Tac and the OTM. It was also really interesting to see how much of a difference .2gr of powder made in the results. I love my expanding CC family, but I am questioning if I just should have stayed with my 16" IUR for my SR rig.

We also shot the MRR11.6", and got similar results, but we weren't paying as close attention. Today was all bout the SR rigs.

I have a danish upper, as well as older kac Sr15s built on CC barrels. They pretty much behaved the same way as in your range report. They all shoot 1 MOA ish with 77smk, and cannot shoot PMC XTAC worth a damn. They also seem to like the full power old Winchester M193 Q load. I busted out a 3" group at 200m during test firing the danish upper, could be a fluke I don't know. 69gr SMK is about 1.5 MOA out of my barrels across the board.

I don't think the chrome lining or not affects anything, it is probably the way these barrels are chambered and other things. It just have more drastic likes and dislikes.

And also to put it into perspective, PMC Xtac is really a 2 to 2.5 MOA ammo The best gun for this ammo is my HK, which shoots it just under 2MOA. FN is so so with it and TAVOR, like the CC, and spits it out like buckshots.

Unless you like tinkering with handloads and you find one that several of your guns like, I would ditch the VDLs in favour of SMKs or Hornady HPBTs that perform better across the board with autos. Berger used to have a 73 gr. 'LTB' or length tolerant bullet which had a similar Ogive to the SMK which also shoots really well. You probably already know this, but VLDs don't typically like 'jump' from the case mouth to the lands and are best suited to boltguns where loading the OAL into the freebore and lands is much more controlled by the handloader.

I didn't mention we also tried Berger 77gr OTM. Noticeably worse than the VLD, still less than 2". We still have time to experiment, but a hair over 1 moa is good enough for SR matches IMHO.
