MSAR STG-556 Any News?

Has anyone heard anything more on the MSAR STG-556? They have it listed on the Microtech web site and have a pdf for it.

Has anyone heard if someone is going to try importing it? I would love it if we could get these up in Canada:D .
 
We still don't know what our overlords will have to say about it. I'm guessing they're still probably pretty busy filling U.S orders. Real Aug's don't come cheap down there. Similar to the SIG 556 this is a hot item.
 
Are they even in production yet? They looked like they were still developing it when I spoke to them at SHOT in January.

They are also going to have to change that name. It is too easily confused with the new SIG SG-556
 
It looks neat but.... what the hell is a forward assisst doing on there? I thought your regular Aug was without one.

I mean it's not like you'll be dragging one through the jungles of Vietnam for weeks on end without cleaning it. These are range toys for the tacticool crowd .... or did I just answer my own question right there?

It's really a matter of opinion, if the firearms designers deem it to be a useful feature and want to add it...so be it. They aren't forcing anyone to buy it now are they?

..except me...I really want one.
 
Check out the Microtech website and go under STG-556, they have pics and a PDF brochure. It looks similar to a 1st gen Steyr AUG, but is being marketed as a different rifle, with different features.

The brochure seems to have been made with Canada in mind as they are careful about how they word things.

Looks schveet. Proprietary mags, only a cosmetic similarity to the Steyr, maybe it does have a chance here..

Very nice rifles. Im sure that they wont be cheap....

Any word as to the retail price in Canada?

I am sure that the rcmp will classify it as a varient of the steyr aug..We may have a slight chance, but I think the chances are very slim! They will not allow us to have rpd because they are too close to an ak! They have totally different locking systems.. I would love to have a vector semi rpd? but it is not to happen..
