HI:

I'm thinking of buying the Mueller APT (All Purpose Tactical) 4.5 - 14x40mm AO w/ target turrets from WFH. I actually want to put it on my R-15 VTR rifle for target shooting. Any Mueller owners' input would be appreciated before I proceed to buy it?

Thank you.

I have a mueller APV on a 223 bolt action, and I like it. That APT must be a new model. Probably not many out there, unless they released them first in the states.

Thank you Griszzlypeg for your input.

Yes you're right, I've already searched for the review of this APT model on the internet with no luck. If its glass is good and it can withstand the soft recoil of .223 in bolt action, it might be worth trying. How is the zero reset and repeatability, we have no experience with this APT model? There is another candidate, Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 AO mildot, no target turret with the same price! I'm still thinking about it though.

The APV I have has as its strong points a very sharp image. I can see 22 cal holes at 200 yards in white paper with it. The adjustments seemed fine, but I was only using the adjustments to zero it, and that's it. No experience with using it like a target turret and making frequent changes. The crosshairs are fine, but not mildot.

I do have a Bushnell 3200 5-15 AO mildot in the tactical version (target turrets), around a $425 scope. It is a great scope in my opinion, and well worth the price. It has a more forgiving eye relief than the Meuller. For some reason I find the meuller more prone to "winking" on me, esp if I shoot prone, but don't take that as a complaint, its not bad by any means. It just might be that the Bushnell has more forgiving eye relief.

I have the Mueller 8.5-25x44AO Tactical and I think it is great for the money. Check out the tac II, as I hear it is really good for the money as well. Glass is from Japan and it is also assembled there. Some reviews put it up there with Leupold Vx3 series in clarity. As with all Muellers tho the eye relief is average.

I have one APT still available if anyone is interested. 195 + shipping. Wicked scope with a 30mm tube and the tactical crosshair. SOLD
Cheers

Just bought one from a member here on GN ( asimons). It's the APV 4.5 to 14. I was originally going to put it on my .22 mag but changed my mind once I got it. It's now got a permanent home on my Sako .243, and I love it. They are clear, easy to adjust both focus and magnification and seem to handle the recoil well. I'm up past # 50 on the groundhog scale this spring. I am planning on purchasing another for my 30/06 when funds permit.

cheers
