well, today i was up on a mountain side and in a clump of trees on a slope i found a bedded 4x3 muley (not a big guy by any means, maybe 16" wide). watched him for around 45 minutes before i wanted to see him in action (it was starting to get late and i didn't want to be caught in the dark up there) i rolled a rock down the slope. after he took off i went cross slope through the clump of trees he was in and found a matched set of 2 point sheds.

question, think they were his? they were maybe 50 yards from where he was bedded down. and the big question, assuming he survives the season and the winter, will he be there next year or the year after when he has some size to him.

I live in the aspen parkland area of Sask. Mule deer bucks here have a large range, especially when in the rut. About 10 Km radius I'd guess. Does with fawns are much more likely to stick to a local area, in summer anyway. Winter conditions can also cause them to migrate some distance, say a few km's.

Where he is Now vs where he'll be in Late winter when they shed the antlers are usually two very different places......
Of course this depends on habitat, weather, etc....
Could be "his" antlers, or could be not ? If he likes the spot then chances are other deer do too;)

Some deer migrate from "Summer ranges" to "winter ranges" etc....
Some do not... it really depends on the area, elevations involved, availablitiy of feed and of course severity of the winters.
