Well today me and my daughter were lucky enough to harvest 2 large bodied mule deer. This was her first deer and she made a great shot at 250 yards. Another one hung around long enough for dad to get a shot with her 6.5 grendel. We were shooting 129 grain long range accubonds at 2350 fps.
Her shot through the neck instantly dropped the deer and exited. I shot 1 through the ribs which exited and 1 through the shoulder which did not. The deer was on its feet for maybe 10 seconds from the first shot till down. All bullets showed nice expansion and trauma.
The rifle is a cz 527 with a 16" barrel
Anyways, just thought fellow gunnuts may be interested in the grendels performance on mule deer. I was quite impressed myself.

Outstanding!! This is awesome to hear and brings me excitement!
I picked up a longer barrelled version for my daughter.
How old?
How long has she been shooting? How long has she been shooting that rifle?
What scope did you go with?

Great bucks and a great day!

6.5 Grendel is one of if not the best low recoil deer slayer. 223 is great with TTSX bullets, 243 is great but way more recoil. The Grendel outclasses cartridges like the 30-30 or 7.62x39 too. Anyone getting a kid into hunting should seriously look at the Grendel. And it's not just for kids- I love the cartridge and I'm a big man and experienced shooter. :)

Glad to hear such great results! I have a 12" Grendel straight-pull that I have built specifically for deer - still haven't had the chance to use it yet but I'm looking forward to the day. Speeds sound great - were you using handloads or a factory offering?

Yes I have handloaded with a max charge of AR-COMP. I also got similar velocity with TAC.
My Daughter is 10 and just got her core and license. We have been shooting for about a year both at the range and off shooting sticks while were out in the bush. The scope is a redfield revolution 2-7 with accurange reticle( one of my favorite scopes)

Great pic, cant argue with that kind of performance from the Grendel.

I was thinking of taking mine to the Charlottes in late October to hopefully take some little deer with. I've had great luck with leverevolution powder in mine both velocity and accuracy wise (howa mini with 22" bbl)

This folks, is a perfect example of parenting done RIGHT. Well done dad and congratulations to your young huntress, those are memories that will last forever.

I have been curious about the Grendel for a while now, this has cemented it in my head that I will own one as soon as I can find one. Thanks for sharing your great story.

Well done and nice photos.

I love the grendel and wish I had one. I now reload my .260 rems to grendel velocities for my daughters to practice with.

Again great job.

Nice bucks! I hope my daughter gets one this year. I also have her set up with reduced loads in a .260 Rem.

Super! Congrats to your daughter on her first deer and to dad for taking her out... well done all around.

Your daughter kind-of reminds me of Anna Chlumsky from the movie "My Girl."
