Mule deer with the 6.5 grendel

Congrats! I loaded the 129 ABLR down to 2325 fps for my nephew in his 260, and he used it with great results on mule deer! Performance was very good

Well today me and my daughter were lucky enough to harvest 2 large bodied mule deer. This was her first deer and she made a great shot at 250 yards. Another one hung around long enough for dad to get a shot with her 6.5 grendel. We were shooting 129 grain long range accubonds at 2350 fps.
Her shot through the neck instantly dropped the deer and exited. I shot 1 through the ribs which exited and 1 through the shoulder which did not. The deer was on its feet for maybe 10 seconds from the first shot till down. All bullets showed nice expansion and trauma.
The rifle is a cz 527 with a 16" barrel
Anyways, just thought fellow gunnuts may be interested in the grendels performance on mule deer. I was quite impressed myself.

:)Congrats, great photo and ;) great hunting partner. I've been back to Alberta on two Mule Deer hunts and an Antelope hunt with my Daughter and Son In Law that have a farm there. I treasure the experience. Oh, I recently picked up a 6.5 myself. I've been considering starting to thinning 'things' out a little but then I decided, ;), one more. From a local site member and friend I picked up a Remington 700 Limited edition in 6.5 CM. I call it my Remington 700 MLR, ;) My Last Rifle

Not going to say I'm impressed. 129gr 6.5mm bullet sets off at that velocity and hits the right part of a mule deer at 250yds, I'll say your results are not surprising. You are doing hunting and parenting right.

Impressive. I like the fact that the little girl only needed one shot, while dad needed two :)

Just pulling your leg, I have a toddler and a baby and I hope I get the same kinds of experiences with them in 8-10 years. Congrats man.
