Multi day hunting/meat hauling packs

I am curious what you guys use for multi day hunting/hiking packs. When I say multi day I mean a week or more. Hauling gear for many days and then hauling meat, cape and horns or antlers. Pack could weigh 100 pounds or more at times and will be hunting in real rough country.

Not interested in hearing about day packs or small overnight packs.

This is not actually for me, although I thought it would be an interesting topic of discussion. Some other board users have been curious about this topic a few times. I myself have owned many large multi day packs and my all time favorite so far is an External frame Dana Designs Terra frame.

What is yours and why?
 
I use a North Face 75 litre (approx) Prism. (That's it in my avatar) I've loaded it down for 10 day solo trips - it'll go, but it's tight. Haven't actually had to pack anything out in it yet - it won't do a whole sheep plus gear, but then I can't solo out a whole sheep plus gear, and I'm sure the pack will take half a boned sheep.

I've been looking at something lighter with more room - MEC has an expandable 90 litre mountaineering pack that'd do nicely - wouldn't be nearly as comfortable under load as my North Face, but then 80 odd pounds of sheep is never gonna be comfortable, and I'd probably save 3 pounds off the base weight of the pack.

I figure packs are always a big trade off - anything with a substantial enough frame to make packing out an animal tolerable is going to add significant weight, and for the most part, with sheep at least, most of the time you're running around 40 pounds, and every extra pound counts. So I'm not really sure if getting a serious freight/meat packing pack is worthwhile, given that most of the time while sheep hunting I'm packing a fairly light load.

Make sure you tell them(MEC) what you are using it for, always works for a good laugh. Tell them you will send them a nice pic of the pack covered in blood for thier catalogue, another great way to get a good rise out of them :D
 
Looks like a nice honey hole he has there too! very sheepy. I still haven't found that perfect pack and am on the lookout. Thanks for starting the thread Dave, I will be watching for clues.

Up till now, I've been using the pack that we used to haul the kids around, I tore off the Kiddy bits and strapped on my pack and a side bag for the spotter. It is VERY comfy. Last August, I had it loaded down with all the camp gear for a 4 mile hike into the Ya Ha, about 80lbs I' guess. Thought I was going to die. Once we set up spike camp the weight was only 25 or 30lbs,
which is enough when you're trying to cover alot of area before anyone else gets there!

I picked up a BullPac frame a few years back. I have been very Pleased with it.
Why ? Because it's very Comfortable, even when loaded and can Haul FAR more weight then I can realistically bear anyways, very tough;)
