Rather then spend big bucks on a e-caller like a foxpro or the like I would like to try using my samsung smart phone. I was wondering if anybody else has used the apps such as ihunt or similar and what have your experiences been? I would like to just get a rechargeable bluetooth speaker and set it out and use my phone as a remote control. Are there any sites where I can download free or cheap animal call mp3's? Can anyone recommend a quality wireless speaker? I can put a micro sd card in my phone so mp3's would be great. I would be using it for moose hunting and coyote hunting.

Varmint Al has downloadable individual calls to make your own sequence or 20 min sequences; 2min calling, 2min silence, 2min of another call, 2min silence etc.

Bluetooth speakers are generally only good for a 30ft range at best. The bluetooth standard is only meant for short range communication. (headphones, speakers, mice, keyboards, hands free in cars, etc.) you might want to look into a more powerful fm transmitter/reciever that can do 100+ meters perhaps

I don't know whether it was just luck or not, but I've called geese down with a cheap usb charged speaker from Tiger Direct hooked directly to my phone. I have the "feed" call going on my phone while I buffoon my way at attempting the "safe to land" call with my mouth call. It's not an ideal set up but works great for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on goose hunting. I would assume it could work similarly on coyote and moose, but again, it could be all dumb luck.

I hope you aren't using that e-caller phone set up for hunting waterfowl in Ontario where you are from. Electronic calls are 100% illegal for waterfowl in Ontario.

I have had great luck with phone based calls. Prior to my Foxpro I used a cheap bullhorn, 55 watts. Modified it so I could plug my phone right in to it. No remotw though. Most animal calls require a horn style speaker to duplicate the proper frequencies, and project them.
Did the whole set up for about 40 bucks.
