How many of you have multiple handguns that are the same caliber. The more handguns I see, the more I want. But calibers start to over lap.

When I first starting buying/collecting handguns, I was of the opinion of having 1 handgun for each caliber (the best offering IMHO of each). Such as a USP .45, G17 and P226 in .40.

However, as I get a bit older, I find that there are lots of nice options. For example, a G17 is a nice piece, but so is a MK25. Then I thought, as I'm sure many other Nutz have, "Why not have both?".

For those of you who have the sizeable collection, what do you say? Do you find the each handgun feels relatively the same because of the same caliber, or does each one, regardless of caliber possess a unique feel and enjoyment while shooting?

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts,

D

It makes sense. A common caliber allows you to potentially share ammunition among each of them. Some guns in the same cqliber have as much difference than two guns with different calibers.

I'm intentionally trying to stick to a core group of calibers, 223, 308, 9mm, and 12 gauge so that I don't have to spend my days looking for obscure components, and to minimize the amount of space required.

I was thinking the same thing. I would like to own a .45 and a .357 magnum, but other than that it think 9mm will be my abundantly stocked caliber in the future.

4-22LR, 3-9mm, 1-45ACP, 2-38/357, 2-44s, 3-308, 1-223, 1-45/70, 1-50cal and I'm looking at a 444 Marlin. I'm doomed!!!!! Takes 30min just to load all that stuff up to go to range:-(

Yup, many of my handguns shoot the same cartridges in .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R mag., .38 spl, .357mag., .44 mag, .45 acp, & .45 colt.

Then all of my rifles shoot most of these same cartridges & even some of them shoot the same cartridge, which works great for me....

It's tough to only have one of each...:p

38/357 for three, 44 Special/Magnum for 5 and one magnum carbine, 45 ACP for 2 revolvers plus one 1911 and two ss ROAs.
Metallic silhouette, hunting, casual target practice, zombie drills, handload development. All the bases covered. :)

I've owned multiple guns in every caliber from glocks, sigs, & hk's. I've found my niche in colt 1911's so now up to 12 in .45 and one in 9mm, also have kept select revolvers just because every collection should have at least one in 44mag, 357, and 45 colt.

Cheers

I pretty much limit myself to 9mm, i have 4 9mm guns and 1 45acp, i thought it would just be more efficiient when purchasing ammo and plus i like the 9 the best.

Six 9mm, three .45, two .22; wouldn't have bothered with .45 if it wasn't for the Kriss ;)
Three of the 9mm are CZ: TS, P07, 85c; each just a little different.
Love them all because each looks and feels a little different.

At first I had one .45, one .40, one 9...
Now I realize how much better caliber commonality is. Have a couple of .45s, now more interested in 9s. Lower cost more shooting fun. :)

I actually sold off my obscure calibers for this very reason.....kind of pointless to have one 38s&w :)
Now....2x45 2x22 2x7.62 4x9 and just added a .40 which will have a new friend shortly.

I decided to stay with 9mm for my Glock and M&P, and any future handguns, aside from an eventual .22 (which I have a rifle in as well). Easier to justify cases of ammo that way.
