Multipurpose pump action with short and long barrels?

Bps.

I hunt with a Remington guy, and the last 4 or 5 trips out he ended up firing single shot due to feed problems. We fixed it every time after we got out of the blind, and it would break again the next trip.

I'm anti mossberg. The actions feel cheap and clunky. The balance is off for me, so it doesn't point right.

My bps has never let me down other the a frozen action and safety, but that was my fault. I'm not anti Remington, but the 870 isn't what it was in the 70's pre outsource.

I'd happily take a 21'' barrel aswell.

Back to the original post, get yourself an old 870. Harbourone is right, I have two 1970-80 870 and they are miles ahead of the 3.5 supermag that I recently bought. The supermag occasionally double feeds, or won't feed and it's unpleasant to load the mag tube at times.

However, that being said the older ones are simple and reliable. The damn of it s that on the EE they are cheap as dirt aswell, people always think new is better...

Winchester SXP comes with a 18 and 28 combo.

I shot my friends at some clays at the range last week, loved it. I have owned 1200/1300's in the past as well Rem 870's. Go with the Winchester. I can't comment on the BPS or weatherby though.

I appreciate all the advice, but as it turns out, I will probably be going with the Weatherby.

I found one for less than $400 and there are 18" barrels available which are part of the "Threat response" lineup. The dealer says the barrels are interchangeable...
