Well - In the good ol' days, when I worked on mining exploration crews, the only stuff that worked was a product called Old Woodsman, made by Brecks out of Sherbrooke Quebec. IIRC
It looked, smelled, and tasted like creosote. Guys would get a good glaze on after 3 or 4 days worth of application, and take on a much darker complexion. Regrettably, its no longer being made - something to do with lab rats expiring when soaked with the stuff. Too bad...
Good thing I still have a few bottles - I break it out for special events!
