Muskox!

That's an aweseom animal and it looks like an even better time. Congrats!!

A buddy and I are looking into doing a muskox hunt possibly in 2015. At the moment we're trying to find an outfitter that we'd like to go with. Any reputable outfitters up there that you'd reccomend?
 
The guy that books hunts from here for BG muskox of Fred Webb outfitting. They got some nice ones this season. I believe that Fred sold the business to George Kunana from Gjoa Haven. I met him this year while they were guiding Jack Brittingham and he seemed like a good guy. The local guides are solid guys and the one guy's 15 year old son shows a ton of potential. One of the guides was going to take me out if I didn't tag out before he finished guiding.

Not to rain on your parade; just FYI. Here's something kinda interesting; the Shockey, 2 Muskox taken on the same hunt, officially scored as #1 and #2 all time.

Jim's #1 ox is a toad, but it's got dark horns (pics on the B&C site) which means it wasn't as old. Still, it's a beast and I'd be curious to know about where along the "Coppermine River" it was taken. My guess is not far from where I was.
 
Hey, just found this thread! Congratulations on such a beautiful animal.

Certainly nothing wrong with hunting with a 30-06 and Partitions. Friend of mine uses them in 220 gr for everything, including bison.

So, what's next? Tundra grizzly?

I tried MuskOx when i lived in the N.W.T . It tastes,....well, .like musk.
Only tied it the once but it was not a pleasant experience.It was the only game meat Ive ever eaten that I did not like.....unless you include whale blubber.
maybe it just wasn't prepared ,right?
