Muskrats in SK

^^^ No kidding, for a little ball of fur, they sure can put some hurtin' on a dog. Our Husky X likes to get after them, and last year we had to doctor the side of his mouth 2 or 3 times, the worst gash almost an inch long.

Did you respect the laws or did you pepper that rat? lol
 
After talking witha CO yesterday there are two options.

A) have fur/trappers license - this limits you to the fur seasons being from October to May
or
B) get a nuisance wildlife permit - this allows the destruction of all of the little buggers that you can find on your property. This includes not only the landowners, but anyone the landowners permit on their property to kill the little bastards.
 
"Landowners Protecting Property" Can blaze rats and beavers (coyotes etc.) any time outside the northern fur zone (Sask).
If you have permission a C.O. would have a very hard time sticking you with anything. Ask first and go to it.
Fur is not saleable after March - too thin. .22 mag or .17 are fun enough but a 7.62X39 surplus is a grand pill for them. Awesome use for sks/cz858!
As noted, watch the ricochets - I try to sight down at a 30 degree or more angle (watch the backstop). If you are on flat ground try a shotgun with birdshot...
couple of lawn chairs etc. at dusk is perfect - ground blind a good idea as after the first few they get smart and will dive 100yards upstream to 100down. They are rats after all!

I prefer Chateau Lafite Rothschild with the vintages of 1982, 1986 or 1990 being acceptable. I probably would be able to eat the Muskrat raw if the vintage was, say, 1953 or 1959.
