Two nights ago I picked up Long Branch C No4 Mk1* dated 1949 from a friend who is selling his collection. Unfortunately, he removed the bolt for storage and is not sure if he has the matching bolt or not. Regardless, it's a nice rifle and hard to find year.

Well, tonight I got a phone call from a collector who wants to trade for some WW2 militaria and what does he offer? A matching Long Branch No4 Mk1 dated.... you guessed it, 1941!!!! It's in great condition and the only minor fault is that it now has a British butt. It has the proper bolt, rear sight, hinged front band but not the waisted front sight body :( Apparently they ceased to be used in the 0L6### range and mine is in the 0L7### range. I just checked the barrel and it has the matching serial # and is 2 grooves which is proper.

So, add these two fine Long Branch No4's to the 43 and 44 dated examples that I already have and I guess I am now officially a Long Branch collector :dancingbanana:

Photos will follow of course.

Wow...did you get lucky or what???:D

Love to see some good, complete pics of the 41, hopefully showing various proofs clearly etc.

If you don't know how to post pics email em to me and I'll do it.

Hinged front band = luckier still. Rare item that.

Hope the guy can find the 49 bolt.

nice. does it have the proper lower wood, with the notch for the cutout?

Yes, it does. The metal on the handguards is also stamped CCM which is correct.
The rifle appears to be 100% correct in all details except for the replaced butt which is a short one and might explain why it got changed. But even the sling swivel on the butt is stamped C broad arrow and I suspect it is the original.

Pics are up!
Very nice score Infanteer!

All correct but for the buttstock...and they are around.

Thanks guys, I feel very lucky. Funny thing is that just over the last couple of weeks I was thinking that I would probably never find a 41 LB and then BAM! out of the blue this shows up. I'll keep a look out for a LB butt to make this complete and proper, although while I suspect that the Brit butt was legitimately replaced while in service I'll never know.

Thanks for the help with the photos Cantom ;)

I got to start getting my name out their and maybe I will get a call like that. I would be happy to get a 1941 LB Sporter to restore, let alone an original.

Nice find you lucky sob lol.
