Must have items/extras for a RA XCR?

I'm not an AR owner nor a XCR owner and might never own either. But what I've noticed over numerous XCR threads is that a lot of the same gunutz come onto these threads and say negative things about the XCR. Now some may say it with good intentions and some may even offer good advice but a lot of it is basically knocking the XCR and by inference anyone that chooses to buy one over another black rifle - usually an AR or Swiss Arms. I don't know what it is about the XCR that makes some gunnutz act this way. Its pathetic to see this over and over on the XCR threads.

The XCR does not have the 40+ years development and millions of dollars invested in it to get it to the same point as the AR. The AR is basically a civilian commercial semi auto version of the Armalite AR15 later adopted as the M16 which most Vietnam vets will tell you was a piece of crap until sorted out. In its latest military configuration (C7, M4, etc) it still has its detractors, hence the HKs Tavors, even reactivated M14s etc being fielded by other armed forces.

The OP wants to hunt with his XCR which is/was my intention as well hence my interest in it. No one at this present time is ever going to hunt with an AR here in Canada no matter how good the AR platform is. AR owners get over it already. THe XCR will get sorted out with time just like the AR did. The same guys just knocking the XCR over and over again - well you look pathetic and over time have make your opinions on the XCR and by inference on other threads at the least questionable and at the most worthless. Just my $0.02 and if you don't like - well stay off the XCR threads or contribute something useful.

Dude, I am sorry but that is ####ing stupid.

If I rip on a gun for sucking, it's because that gun sucks. If somebody wants to identify with an inanimate object they purchased, that's their problem. If I got on a car forum and people asked about a Yugo, I would say "the problems you can expect with Yugos are XYZ. They do not stand up under conditions ABC, and their are better cars for the same money."

Maybe Yugo fans would get sad, but that is NOT my problem. The biggest favour I can do ANYONE considering a purchase is tell them THE TRUTH ABOUT THE CAR.

I would guess on car forums as well, there are only a few guys who have both the experience and the willingness to stand up and say, "Dude, don't waste your money on a Yugo" even if it means some people are going to get bent out of shape. Those people probably appear in many of the same Yugo threads.

THOSE are the only people helping anyone. The people in there mollycoddling the Yugo buyers, or circle jerking on their Yugos, are SCREWING the guy who is shopping for a car!

Sometimes you have three options:

1) Say nothing
2) Say something nice
3) Tell the guy the ####ing truth about the gun he is thinking about buying before he blows two thousand ####ing dollars.

As much as possible, I try to give people honest answers to whatever question they've asked. If I think they're a jerk, I might say nothing. If I think their question warrants an answer, I will tell the truth.

What I WON'T do is pretend that a machine with serious flaws is great, just because some guys, for whatever reason, can't tell the difference between their gun and their ####.

ya right ? MISanthropist you come on XCR POST TO BAIT PEOPLE and make fun of people thats all .You don't even own a XCR so who cares what you think get lost.

If you think that's why I post in XCR threads, then I would tend to take the position that you don't read English any better than you write it.

My commentary on the XCR is pretty balanced and entirely factual, and it is based on both my personal experience with the gun and the experiences of others in similar shooting environments with a high degree of shooting experience.

I would argue that that much should be readily apparent to anyone who reads (and understands) my posts.

I'm just waiting for the XCR-"M"ythical.. Three years and counting since I was first told by RobArms it would be released "soon". At least we've finally seen some pics of the prototype!!!

Since it is appearing that more and more XCR owners are becoming satisfied with their platforms, I'm hoping the "M" will be trouble-free when (and if) it comes out in the not too distant future. And also, that the cost won't be in the SCAR range...

So Misanthropist since his first language is not english you should attack or disreguard him??? Now that says alot about you.

I have an XCR and 2 friends of mine do as well and all three of us have had no issues at all ever. Mine has over a thousand rounds easily with no issues. As far as must have add ons other than an optic and LAR mags it needs nothing if you have the second gen. The first gen I would do the trigger.

Not at all...not having a good command of English is perfectly reasonable in some parts of this country, and it would explain why he doesn't seem to understand my posts.

The alternative is that he reads English extremely well, and that it is therefore not a language barrier that is preventing him from understanding what I write.

You can figure out for yourself which is more insulting, I would think.

Well you may have a valid opinion but the manner in which you conduct your self and the unneeded comments means people do not respect what you have to offer for insight. That should be very obvious. Look at people like M14 Doctor, Currton, Dmitri etc, there posts are on point most of hte time and they do not stoop to a level where their opinion becomes invalid due to their actions. I have respected some of your views and opinions but as of late that has dwindled to the point now that it just comes off like the same old crap from a hater. That is too bad, as I am on here for valid opinions before I buy things and invest alot of money in a paper weight. Its a shame really, very disappointing.

well this is all I will say/write buy it and like it and keep it, or buy and hate it and sell it/trade it

I have not owned one but have shot a few and all ran/handled great, I like the idea of the Non Res AR mag taking gun,but for the small price increase a used Sig might be a better choice

if the topic keeps turning into a sewing circle of old hags #####ing I will lock it down

And placed on Ignore.

Anyhow back on track for the OP, really they do not need anything from the get go. My best advice is to shoot it alot and then see what you think. After doing the same all I did was an optic and LAR mags and that is all she would ever get for my use. I also do plan on hunting and shooting varmits with it, not just a range gun which is why I no longer consider the AR a firearms for my future purchases.

He fired 500+ rounds a day over 4 days. Eventually, he got it sorted out.

Hence, OPERATOR problem, not gun problem.

If I rip on a gun for sucking, it's because that gun sucks.

No, its because you have some sort of complex about your other guns, your #####, or some other aspect of yourself that makes you want to feel better about the choices you've made or the way your life panned out. So, you try to rip things down.

You don't like the XCR, you've made your point, now kindly screw off and let us talk about the XCR in peace. We all know what you think, we no longer care.

There is no way to determine from this story if the problem was, in fact, operator-generated.

It is, of course, possible that I have issues with my guns, life, or #####, some or all of which cause me to feel the need to knock other people's choices.

However, observant readers will naturally notice that I am 100% consistent in terms of which choices I seem to feel the need to bash.

And, by strange coincidence, I have fairly specific rationale for why those choices are potentially poor ones, and they do line up with the experiences of a large number of tactical shooting instructors, who see large numbers of guns through their courses.

So the options are that I have a random obsession with a particular gun for entirely personal reasons, and that my take on it coincidentally lines up with the experience of a lot of experts, or that I have a fair amount of experience with these guns myself, and know what the issues are, and do not advise the purchase of these guns for that reason.

Either is certainly possible.

I bought one because it was different, non-restricted and took AR style mags.

The only issue I had with it was the disconnector breaking after ~140rds during the break-in period. Terra sent a replacement asap and I sent the broken one back so they could confirm why it broke. Only a limited number of them broke, I had one of them.

Great rifle, quite accurate and I use it for IPSC rifle matches. It has an ACOG Compact 1.5x and a Magpul AFG. I have about ~1200rds through it. Bought it about 2 years ago and didn't Loctite anything. Nothing has come loose or fallen off.

I enjoy shooting it. :D
