Only three semi-autos on my must have list.
1. Mid range price wise (New retail around $1,500 taxes inc), but quality 1911.
2. Glock 17 or 19. Just so I can say I’m not an old prejudiced bastard.
3. FNS9/40. I can shoot them better than my Glocks probably because they are so ergonomically close to my beloved 1911s.

For solid feel/performance, the CZ Shadow 2 has all the nice upgrades that the Shadow 1 needed.
And, not necessarily a "must have", but the Beretta APX is my latest addition to the family and I am VERY pleasantly surprised with it.. went to compare the G17 to the S320 and after feeling their triggers, compared to the APX... there was no other option.... a great little firearm as my backup ISPC gun.

I'm partial to the 'Wonder Nines' or pretty much any of the classic, full-size duty 9mm semi autos:

Browning Hi Power
CZ 75
Sig P226
Beretta M92FS
Glock 17
HK USP

Non wonder-nine:
1911 (it's a classic)
Sig P210
HK P7M13
Steyr GB

But that's just me.
