Great vid but I like your slap chop 1 better![]()
Yankee hill for the Win. Buddy says it doesnt do much for recoil or Muzzle rise....WTF????
I've tested and video taped a lot of muzzle brakes over the last two years. In a video you don't see much difference in muzzle movement between devices. The 5.56/.223 doesn't recoil much compared to most other center-fire rifles. But I can say, based on thousands of rounds of testing, that to the shooter, recoil impulse, muzzle movement and blast varies greatly between most muzzle devices. A standard test I do is to try to keep all five rounds on an 8" pie plate at 15 yards shooting as fast as I can pull the trigger. So far, only one muzzle device I've tried has met this standard with my AR15.
So, which did you decide to keep?

I kept them all....
But to answer your question, the only brake/comp that passed the pie plate test was the new Dlask XB6.
However, my rifle currently wears an A2 flash hider. 10" AR's are VERY obnoxious with any muzzle device. It's not so bad for the shooter but it is terrible for anyone around him. Indoors? Forgetaboutit, horrible for everyone! That being said, if you want to shoot fast and accurately muzzle brakes will help with any barrel length.
Case in point:

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this guy on the line at a course or at an indoor range. Granted it's a 7.5 inch barrel, but Christ what an obnoxious pig of a rifle! Muzzle brake on this one is a Ferfrans brake I believe (could be wrong, I've never been able to find out much about it).
I'm a believer that good muzzle brakes are best suited to 14 inch barrels and over. I'd love to try the XB6 on a 14'". Maybe I'll get a Norc upper just for testing some day.
Send it to me, I'll test it on my Norc for ya. I might even send it back when I'm done. LOL.
Only $65 at Dlask. Pony up!!
