muzzel brake adversly affecting Accuacy

Custom brake installed by the designer, its a custom slip on unit with several set screws in a collar holding it in place.
It is designed to give braking with out large Booming in the process.I have several boxes of factory ammo to test and I could
load a load myself as well. maybe prime some of my newly swaged brass this evening....FS

IMO they are Mickey Mouse I HIGHLY doubt the bullet is leaving the barrel centered thru the brake ! I ONLY like thread on Brakes ! jmo RJ

Custom brake installed the the designer/maker and it shoots less accurately ... sounds like you should be returning it to him for a refund.

Concerning accuracy... a brake needs to be installed concentric with the bore of the rifle, and then the bullet clearance should be bored while in the same set up. I doubt this occurred with this clamp on brake.

I have installed many brakes over the yrs not many lately but in the 80's and into the late 90's never hand accuracy issues . Not familiar with a clamp on brake but the sounds just wrong .

pull the brake and if you still want one, get your barrel threaded and install one properly. your set screws on the clamp on one have likely damaged the finish on the barrel already, so no net benefit against getting it threaded instead. put the clamp on brake onto a straight walled .22, or make a pen holder for your desk if you can't get your money back.

Had the rifle in question back out to the range, and things are coming into place quite nicely with a fireforming load with 120gr bullets and win 748 powder. Thanks for all of your assistance.....fs

Reminded me of a saying someone said to me the other day referring to certain chicks ....

"never stick your #### in bad grammar".

I don't seem to remember that lesson in all those english classes !

the words are One and too . ;) LoL
