Muzzle brake adapter for CanAmmo / Dominion Arms Socom 18

So for the new Canada Ammo / Dominion Arms Socom 18, as seen here:

....it would be nice if we could get some kind of thread adapter to convert the .592 x 32 M1A threads to the more common 5/8 x 24 as seen here:

It sure would open up alot of muzzle brake options for us. Looks like Brownells can't ship the above adapter to Canada though?
 
An opportunity exists for a company to fabricate a compatible flash hider and/or brake.

My vote would be for an ATRS LFE. Looks great and seems to direct more of the noise down range vs. to your ears.

I agree on the ATRS LFE.
I also think I'd like an adapter too. That way one could have the option to try out a variety of different hiders/brakes that are available in 5/8 x 24 .
 
Normal USGI threading and not the odd metric thread they usually use. SEI make a direct connect flash hider, I don't think the barrels are thick enough for 5/8x24 threading which is a common .30cal brake threading. You can always get a brake blank from one of the sponsors and have it threaded for these.
 
Those won't work on these unfortunately... there are no splines machined on the barrel end. So it needs to be a the Can-am faux brake, a direct connect, or some other adaptor. I like the Can-am "brake".. looks bad a$$

Interesting.... Well, there are several direct connect options out there.... SEI, Troy ....
I'll hazard a guess that canam's workers are gonna read all this and come up with somethin.
Why else would they spend the time to brand em with a name other than norinco?
If they can machine a gas lock front sight or a muzzle brake.... A thread adaptor should be easy peasy... But please... No aluminum junk :D
 
I really like the muzzle break that comes with it. , well its more of a flash hider . if its not broke dont fix it, i know some guys just have to customize everything lol . We were out last night shooting 2 shorty m14 , one with the standard birdcage FH and the new SOCOM , This new break cut the flash much better and it seemed to have a bit less recoil .
 
I emailed M14.ca . They have a muzzle break with a sight adapter but it has a different thread size.

I inquired if they would Thread the one they have there for the socum 18.

The reply when it came back was they would have to have an order of at least 40 to make a run of them for Socum.

This would be a very good quality brake here with extra features.

I would take 2 myself.

I forgot to mention that info on the m14.ca mention that the Light Muzzle Brake and front site set
should correct over indexing by adjusting the sight as needed. Cool.

2 Birds with one stone here.

Put me down for 1 as well... Given the front sight setop of the M305 SOCOM, they could build a run without the front sight mount

I didn't realize that the .595x32 threading was actually milspec. Now I find myself wondering why there aren't more attachments available to fit that. Maybe CanadaAmmo should look into a deal with M14.ca to retail the Light Muzzle Break... Considering the number of M305s of all types they sell, I find myself thinking they'd do well to retail things like scope mounts, recoil spring guide rods, muzzle attachments and etc...

Well...I see a stock and a scope mount on your site...but I just ordered some BM sights, a Sadlac op rod spring guide and a M14 handguard from Treeline. I would rather have bought them from you.

Any thoughts on making a deal with M14.ca for the nifty flash hiders? Do you think you could move 40 of them? How many deposits or upfront payments would you need to put in a wholesale order for them?
 
whats the cost to get a shorty re threaded to 12*28? Might just do that to open up the options for brakes.
