Muzzle brake canted to the left

I recently ordered a Remington 700 in .308 with the Archangel stock from Frontier. It came with a muzzle brake installed on the gun. After closer inspection the brake is canted to the left noticeably when looking at it from the top down.

I did a search but couldn't find much on this, only that some people thought that if the rifling in the barrel went one way, and the brake was canted slightly (this one is more than slight) then perhaps it was to counter some rotational force from the bullet.

Anyway, the canting is more than slight- should I be concerned?

I haven't gone to the range yet to try and sight in the rifle but don't want to go and have the trip be a waste if this is going to affect accuracy (vs having it square).

The rifle included a standard cover for the threading as well if I wanted to remove the brake which is also an option that I'm considering.

As it stands now, the brake appears to be glued in with something and I don't want to force it off, so basically just putting it out there to see if a trip to the smith is in order. If its just cosmetic I'm not concerned...

What do you guys think?

Canted to the left from the top doesn't describe it, are you looking at it from the front top or the rear top. Hopefully it is from the front top... which would mean it just needs to be tightened a bit more... a thou or at the most 2 thou might have to be removed from the shoulder.

It is cosmetic and will not affect accuracy.

Heat will be required to remove it... quite hot, probably 300 or 350 degrees F.

If the canting is more than slight that means more than likely that some bubba used the threading die instead the lathe to cut the threads.
I say use the thread protector and forget about brake or hire the real gunsmith to rethread the barrel.

I think he means that it's canted by being threaded on to far or not enough ...

The SIMPLEST fix would be to remove it and use a crush or better yet a peel washer .. The proper way to do it would be to have a smith put it in the lathe and set the shoulder back until the brake was indexed properly

Yes it looks as though it was threaded on too far to me (Ie left when holding the gun as if to shoot it and looking down the top of it, its too far over to the left).

If it's just cosmetic I will just shoot as is, will look into getting the washers in the future- just want to get out to the range and get shooting if possible!

I appreciate the input!!

there a few way you can redo to have the muzzle brake dead center, one is to machine additional material out of the barrel to have the brake going in further, the other way is to cut a piece of pop can around the size of the barrel with a hole in the middle fit the size of the threaded shank, which is about .003 this will allow you to set the brake from till from the left to dead center. in a 5/8-24TPI, .003" will give you allow you brake to move back out from 11 oclock to 12 oclock.
Hope this help.
