Muzzle brake effectivness vs. muzzle jump

Never used one, I am very curious about effectivness, style ie. vents/angles, bolt on vs. threaded, pros and cons, trials and testimonials etc.d:h:

Effective it is the louder they gwnerally are. There isnt much differance between thread on and clamp on as far as effectiveness .What caliber are you shooting ? If your thinking about one for a 223, then you might wanna take a look at your shooting position
 
Badger FTE on a 308 Win. Its effective enough to let you see your own hits and occasionally your own swirl (under the right conditions).

I like that its removable for cleaning or if you need to shoot without it.
