Muzzle brake question?

Does a muzzle brake effect the velocity of a bullet? Say if a barrel was 22 inches with a 2" brake would you gain velocity being you have an extra 2 inches?

Adding a muzzlebrake to a gun will not result in higher velocities.That extra 2" in length is not equivalent to an additional 2" of barrel.

nope no gain in velocity as there are holes in a break that divert some of the gases back to wards the shooter instead of out the end of the barrel.

My .300 Win Mag has a muzzle brake on it and it has less kick than my .303 Brit Win/64 is very correct with the noise. Oh and don't stand beside the shooter too, it freak the crap out of me when my daughter was using it. The shock was incediable
