Does a muzzle brake effect the velocity of a bullet? Say if a barrel was 22 inches with a 2" brake would you gain velocity being you have an extra 2 inches?

Cheers!!

nope no gain in velocity as there are holes in a break that divert some of the gases back to wards the shooter instead of out the end of the barrel.

Adding a muzzle brake will mean fewer friends. Either they will completly walk away from you. Or huddle in a corner.

My .300 Win Mag has a muzzle brake on it and it has less kick than my .303 Brit :dancingbanana: Win/64 is very correct with the noise. Oh and don't stand beside the shooter too, it freak the crap out of me when my daughter was using it. The shock was incediable :runaway:

How incediable was it?
That freak the crap out of me 2.

a muzzle brake that can be turned on/off would have better velocity in the off position, as opposed to a fixed brake.
