20” barrel on my rifle jumps a fair bit. I cannot spot my shots. It’s a light rifle. Any recommendations for a muzzle break that will help keep the muzzle down. Recoil isn’t a problem.
I like the apa micro bastard. I have the first gen on a 6 pound, 6.5-284 and it works pretty good. I can spot my shots at 500yards. I liked it enough to buy a second break for my next rifle that isn’t built yet. Some of the bucking you’re getting might be stock design and ergonomics as well. I’ve shot a few light rifles that are just a pain to hang on too.
Meraki Machine has some nice brakes. There is a fair amount to choose from. American retailer that ships to Canada. I have the M1 self timing brake I would like to get a couple more.
Some Brake’s have certain features to tame muzzle jump, Benchmark-Miller brakes are some of the very best made,
The ports are designed so there’s less material on the top of the brake or at the upper edge of the port to allow the blast to be forced up and out in turn forcing the muzzle down.
If your looking for a self timing brakes International Barrels out of Chilliwack makes a decent 2, 3 and 4 gill brakes, they also make radial port brakes.
APA Little Bastard self timing brakes are among the best rated brakes made, they also make 2,3,4 and 5 gill brake’s.
That "Benchmark Miller" thing is a complete rip off of the Badger Thruster brakes...they may actually be Thrusters they buy and resell which is pretty greasy.

A member on here had a video of testing a great variety of muzzlebreaks. It included recoil reduction, muzzle jump and blast to the shooter and was very well done. Just do a search and watch the video. Lots of info. I love my Heathens and made in Canada by Insite Arms
Installed a Spearhead Machine 3 port. It had a place on top for gas to push muzzle down. It works well. I can keep target in the scope after I fire the rifle.
One manufacturer that I inquired at called me dude which I didn’t think was professional. They had good reviews but that turned me off. I stuck with a CDN manufactured product as well.
Yeah, they have that one larger port... nothing else similar lol.
The Badger, cuz I can't tell from the pic of that other clone, has all the ports bored just a bit higher then bore axis, gives just enough up gas to be a very neutral on the shooter, I haven't come across anything as effective yet, they work on everything up to 300Win that I've tried and tame them to something you would let a 12 year old kid shoot.
7mmRem Mag is like 223 recoil, 300 Win less then 243. They ain't pretty, require a Smith to bore and time, but they work better then anything else I tried, and I tried a LOT of brakes.
