muzzle brake sks russian

I wanted to remove the front sight and bayonet mount ,and wondered if anyone had any luck or advice on it's removal. I would like to build it into a more traditional rifle ,I will machine a stainless brake to cover the area exposed by the missing attachment either by threading or pinning. I will be mounting a scope and using the ATI tridational monte carlo replacement stock.I had no problem removing the pins but the sight is on there pretty tight ,next I may try a heat gun and puller .I will have to be careful to protect the crown though???
Ramjett;listen to sunray....removing your front sight isn't going to help with it's accuracy!!!

I just want to get rid of the military gear , I dont need the sight and bayonet ,so why have them hanging out there,It may be just me but I dont like the look of iron sights on a scoped rifle anyway, the break is only to cover the machined part of the barrell(clean it up a bit) , I am a machinest with a full machine shop in the basement so it's no big deal to make the parts.just thought someone may have taken the origional sight off before and could give me a tip.I just want it to look a little more like a traditional ( more modern) hunting rifle.and that is what I want to use it for.I am not trying to make it a lazer beam LOL .I just dont want to have to keep explaining why I am wandering the bush with what looks like a assult rifle ,legal or not the look I am sure will be questioned and I dont need the hassles .Roger

Just remove it and don't put anything on the end. A muzzle break is a waste of time since it doesn't kick anyway. Oddly, most people know what an SKS looks like and its not uncommon to see someone hunting with one. I hunt with my SKS, Mosin, and SVT-40. Next season will be adding M44 carbine and Yugo M48 Mauser. The meaner it looks, the less questions they ask.
It's all about putting the hours of range time to be able to know what she does and how to counter it ...
Well I do a ton of that and am pretty good ,but that still gets me no closer to getting that front sight off .what will help my groups is putting on a stock that isn't so small that my elbows are bent to there limit .and getting that pound of iron off the front,the brake idea was only for looks ,a simple stainless sleeve to cover the machined area of the barrell . this rifle dosn't have mutch recoil anyway,it's not super acurate but it's not bad.It is a bit nose heavy and my mod should help that .
