Muzzle brake???

If you got a VIAS you may have a clone....the true blue unit is a VAIS.....or maybe its just a spelling thing but yours does look to be a little different than the ones I know and have seen Robert, but it doesnt mean it is any less functional. Let us know how it works and where it came from.

its the one I am thinking of getting

That looks cool Jamie, I realy like the "Front towards enemy" on the crown touch. Im not sure if I would be a big fan of a clamp on style. It would be nice to see it as a thread on. Looks good though and looks easy to clean. If you snag one let us know how it works. If you need someone to bring it in for you give me a PM I'll give you a number for a guy that can import them.

Brownells, I got it ordered like a year ago, Unless its a older model. But it was a VAIS. I mean VAIS not VIAS...The Rifle still is in the shop..

I like the idea of clamp on's!!

I will use it on range work(lots of rounds down range) and take it off to hunt(one round down range and maybe without ear pro)

the one in the pics was the same as Farmboy's and that was like six or seven years ago

Jamie, if you decide to use a clamp on, I hope that there is an indexing groove in the barrel and on the brake or else you will likely shoot off the brake. There is alot of force acting on a brake. Threaded is usually a better way of installing them.

The pics of the Holland set up is very nice.

The brake I use most often is the Micaluk AR15 brake. Looks just like a Holland, maybe a bit wider. Works very well and dirt cheap.

McC, if that brake came from Brownells, it is likely a Shrewd varmint brake. The ports only are on the side with none top and bottom. Correct? If so, the pic shows a canted brake.

Vais claim to fame was porting out the front to reduce noise to the shooter. Of course, this also reduced its affectiveness but it looks cool and shooters have enjoyed them.

has anyone tried the brockman muzzle break, I thought it was a pretty good concept.
you can turn it to deactivate it when you are hunting, and open it up at the range.. not sure if it would change the point of impact though..

I have a Badger Brake threaded and red locktited on a .308. It works great! Offhand it actually pushes the rifle down when firing but I am still able to watch my projectiles impact. I am quite happy with it, and it has never started to thread off.

Jerry alot of guy's on the Hide are running the FTE...they are not comming off

thread back to the barrel and tighten the Hex bolt done deal

has anyone seen a brockman muzzle brake up close?

I wonder how they would perform and how they would hold up.. it seems like they would be perfect for hunting with the brake in the off position, and at the range with it in the on position.
