muzzle brake

We still got some SEI direct comp.

Still waiting for the SEI coast guard brake. Once they fill our order, we will have enough for everyone.

We will have a new muzzle brake and front sight combo that offers a significant alternative to what is in the market now. I will also say, I am focused on VALUE. This item is on the table now. 2 months approx..

Please don't wait too long to unveil the deisgn and apporx cost. I'm very close to buying an SEI brake and it would be a shame if I missed out.

These barrels are almost always removed from the receiver, cut, crowned, and threaded properly on a lathe, then reinstalled. However, if you work slowly and carefully,it is possible to leave the barrel installed and cut and crown the chrome lined Chinese M14 barrels with only hand tools. Some sort of piloted reamer is advisable for truing the bore and cutting the crown.

I have used various front sight set ups, and many different muzzle devices.

Most of these muzzle devices were threaded to AR 15 standard 1/2" x 28 TPI. The outside diameter on the Chinese barrels at the cut off point can vary tremendously, limiting the size of the thread you can use, but 1/2" X 28 TPI will always fit, and this size allows for the easy fitting of all those AR 15 muzzle accessories. Just don't forget to ream out the bore of any compensator or muzzle brake to the proper ID for a .30 Cal bullet.

If you are attempting to go with a CLAMP on muzzle device, I would recommend you limit yourself to ONLY the Flash Hider type of devices. A true muzzle brake or compensator will be subject to a lot of gas pressure trying to rip the device off the barrel. The Flash Hider devices don't get nearly as much pressure and stress on them.

OR,
if you have access to precision welding, you might want to try welding a tube on to the gas lock, creating a longer version of the SOCOMplicated style of muzzle brake. The heat treat on the gas lock will probably be ruined, but Norc gas locks are cheap here in Canuckistan.

OR,
think up some other way of clamping the muzzle device to the gas assembly???

Have you seen the video of the Smith Enterprises Coast Guard brake in action? They fire an m14 full auto, shot offhand, and the muzzle doesn't rise at all. Looks really effective for a fast follow up shot. Can't comment on the loud, other than I'd expect it to be.

I enjoy the recoil from mine. It's like a buddy's big paw thump on your shoulder. I have another m305 with just the flash hider. I'll do a comparison.

My buddy was with me and he wanted to shoot my m305. as I was explaining to him some details I pulled back on my ear muffs. I forgot to slip them back on. I was standing to his right and 2 paces behind him when he pulled the trigger. My knees buckled. My hands instinctively covered my ears - buy too late. I shrieked just one 4 letter word loud & clear for the whole world to hear (or so it seemed). My ears rang for 2 days. Ya, it's loud.
 
I see the purpose as not to dampen shoulder thumping recoil, which everyone knows there isn't, but to allow for fast follow up shots by maintaining some sight picture.
