Muzzle break for .308.

Is there a supplier in canada for a good muzle break that works well on a .308?

Don't know, but I got the Badger Ordnance FTE brake (for many guys, it's one of the best and it's removable!) from Triad Tactical (they ship up here!!). I didn't get the chance to try it yet because my project is currently under construction...

There are all kinds of brakes that'll work just fine with a .308. However, how they go depends on the rifle. Some require the muzzle to be threaded. Some are soldered on. Some are clamped on. With all of 'em, the muzzle blast and noise are increased.
The brakes Badger sells are on their 'Rifle Accessories' page.

I've had my 308 threaded from the time it was chambered and after getting back from the range this afternoon, I'm finally putting a brake on it. I'm burning 46.75gr of Varget and I'm also doing load developement on 190gr SMKs as well and the recoil is starting to get to me. The brake will be custom and will take all of the recoil but because it's 'custom' it's going to cost God knows what.

Yea it seems like the best option is to find a brake that is relatively mass produced for the .308 and then just make sure the barrel threading works. Much cheaper and less worry about the breaks effectiveness then working up a custom one.

Are you building a .308 for a child or small woman? Or does the recoil bother you that much?

Oh you manly man... we all know REAL men don't need brakes!;)

Try to put several precision follow up shots on target in a few seconds without a brake... then we'll talk about women and children.

Try this, take you 308, load 46.75gr of Varget and pack it down to launch a 175gr SMK. I think my gun weighs more then yours but you'll get the drift. Load 20 or 30 of them and let me know how that goes for ya.

When you're done with that, step up to the 190s and start your load developement of BLC-2 at about 43gr and work up to 46gr in 1/4gr increments with 5 rounds a piece. That should rattle your false teeth loose.

SHEESH ...
I have a Dlask 4 port muzzle brake on my target M-14, and will be installing a shorty three port muzzle brake on all my shorty M-14 rifles.

When I shot IPSC [ and that included one time where I shot up over 1000 rds of .45 MAJOR loads in one day ] I used a comp.

When I used to do bowling pins for $$$, [ and that included LONNNNG weekends where I shot off hundreds of MAGNUM loads ] I used a 6" comped .45 Super pistol, a 7" PORTED Ruger Redhawk in .44 MANGLUM, and a ported AR 10.

Does this make me a girly man??

Muzzle brakes and or Compensators can be for FAST follow up shooting, as well as for expressing your inner wimp.

Real manly already know that.

Sorry, My poor little Featherweight M-70 doesn't like to twist fast enough to shoot anything above 180 grains. I'm sorry, but I can't imagine a .308 being hard to handle, although I will take the fast grouping in a few seconds under consideration.

I'll give it a try with the .375 and some 300 grain spitzers.

I'm 6 feet 5 inches high.Shrek is 6 feet 5 inches AROUND that little load is not going to loosen his teeth.Maybe if he uses Don's .460 and rapid fires it, one little tooth may loosed up a tiny little bit

I guess you are what you eat dickhead. LOL :D

go ahead and try it. Shoot prone and try my little exercise with your 700P or whatever you run. I think recoil is a sacrifice we all have to deal with for getting high BC bullets at a half decent speed. Just like shooting 250gr 338LM vs hopped up 300gr. One could probably push 90gr of powder with a 250gr Lapua without a brake but I dare anyone to get behind my Lapua burning 112gr with a 300gr bullet with the brake cranked off of it.

Ok so you're freakishly huge that would mean then you could probably handle my 50 without a brake correct??? Anytime you're willing to try, let me know. I'll have the video camera ready. If you wimp out on that, you can lay down behind my little 338LM without a brake and burn through a couple rounds. After that we'll have a short quiz waiting for you. Simple questions like, What's your name? What planet are you on? That should be entertaining.

try k@s arms in edmonton they did a brake on the wifes tikka and it works great .. there is not a thing wrong with using a comped gun just some guys need the "manly thing " to feel big !!!

Glock a maniac game on. You buying the ammo? Do I here summer road trip? And oh I forgot I get to use Shrek as a recoil pad.OK

LOL If you're going to be anywhere near Summerland BC around the second weekend in April, I'll have the big toys out to play. I can't garanty I'll have the muzzle brakes off but you're more then welcome to try my guns out just for the hell of it. Where are you from anyway?
