Muzzle break shredded/molted...?

Wow way to spill the beans

I'm not getting the reference.... nor the beans you speak of.

it's pretty damned obvious what happened there...... and an elaboration for the sensitive folks---> the muzzle device bore diameter wasn't sufficient for .308. (should have been opened to minimum .395")

happy now?

I guess I'm just a little disappointed to see this. I've spent all these years here vocally supporting dlask and steering countless folks there as the "only" place to get an m14 barrel chopped and threaded based on years of excellent and flawless service and having hundreds of barrels done there myself, yes hundreds, ask Joe.
So when I see the "new guy" at Dlask, ruining all that, I'm a little pissed off to see that, couple with ALL my interactions with the new guy have been negative, since Joe had his stroke and has been on the path to retiring.
it's like you go to your favorite restaurant for years because the chef/cooks provide you with something a cut above the rest..... and then the old hands retire and the new hands take over, and it's just never the same. So it seems with Dlask :(
I feel bad for Joe (who over the years I consider a friend, he's certainly treated me as such) , he should have kept his name and not passed it on

And I've tried Dlask, based on the countless testimonials on CGN.... And back in '09 I had a good experience. But the dealings I've had since '11 on have all been negative......

They are now on my "never use their services" list.....

Casey at Tac-ord is a really stand up guy. Service and quality or work are top notch. With guys like that around.... Why bother with Dlask?

I'm beginning to wonder if the thing hasn't been this way since day 1. I mean, I had to actually remove it from the muzzle to see those damages. Also, I'm thinking: shooting through it without enough diameter would have created some kind of "event" that I would remember about don't you think? And since the interior of the break appears still parkerized instead of torn to bare metal it looks like it may have gone to parkerising in that state. This is what I meant by lack of quality control.

The person who screwed that onto my barrel might not even have inspected it.

I just don't know.

back in 06 when I met lazerus2000 (banned), a former influential m14 enthusiast on the site, we shared 2 things in common. A passion for the M14 platform and we both had known Joe Dlask for several years prior.
So laz introduced me to the Canadian version of the 'shorty' m14 ( I begrudgingly must give credit where credit is do but I do it with a sour taste in my mouth)
Up until that point I was dealing with the standard GI and Krieger barrels for my builds.
So, the question came as to what to put on the end of a shorty m14
marstar was selling those nifty Chinese threaded gas lock sights back in the day but no one made any "m14" flash hiders to stick on a shorty barrel.
So we had Joe dlask ream out 1/2 x 28 muzzle devices to our specified .395" and bingo, some selction was to be had.

Now, around 2009 I started a cgn dealer account and I was cranking shorties out the door at an alarming rate for about 3 1/2 years. ALL those barrels cut and threaded and muzzle devices in the correct (and safe) dimensions made and supplied by dlask. I didn't buy one or two at a time, I'd buy a whole run or a good chunk of it.
never an issue.
It's sad to see issues these days and I'm afraid it is coming with the new blood that is taking over. I stopped going there after leigh paid no attention to my request for a barrel to be cut and crowned at 18.5 , was written right on the paper I taped firmly to the barrel..... and handed it to me in front of joe at 19.75"
I had to give the guy I was building one of my criterion standard barrels in 18.5" because that's the barrel length he paid for.
Then getting snubbed when I call there to speak to Joe or email repeatedly and again get snubbed with short replies..... I'm a 20+ year customer walking away
my favorite hunting rifle was trued, tuned and bedded by Joe himself and I'm keeping that rifle to my grave ;)

I understand your disappointment, and I must say that before I sent the barrel action in for cut and thread, I couldn't obtain an answer from Dlask to most of my emails. But I must be honest, since this happened Leigh has answered all my emails and promised to make good, so I'm not in a position to expect more from them at this point.

The gun community of this country is not that big. If this is the level of quality they keep producing, the word will spread and their business will eventually fail.

I will let you know how they do with me. Thank you.
