Muzzle break

While my original question was in regards closer to the Holland brakes. Now I'm curious of the JP's and Armalite AR50 style brake. Are these brakes available to use on lets say Sendero?

If you are not crawling in the dirt when you fire your Sendero it does not really matter if the brake is ported all around.

This top brake in this picture is on a Sendero and finished flush because of the large diameter. It does work very well. If you are wanting the tactical "look" and no bottom ports then it isn't the brake for you.

You will have to check around to see if they are available in Canada. Not something I can presently offer you.

If you have access to some pipe, you can weld up a JP type brake. If you have access to flat plate and some talented welding, the AR50 style can be mocked up OR, you can just mill something similar out of pipe or block metal.

You can make up a very effective brake with the use of a drill press to make the ports. A lathe would be helpful to keep the bore and threads aligned. But it can be done with less equipment.

Give the 'smiths who have already posted a shout. They make them and they do great quality work.

Rick.. What is the diameter of that??? Can it be installed on a 1.125 barrel and look like an extension of the barrel with no taper I guess is what I am asking???

Being as we make each brake custom for the barrel it is being fitted to, YES
Currently the largest diameter bar stock we have on hand is 4" so unless someone is shooting MUCH bigger guns than I am we have you covered.:D

They look good Rick... the top flat can be used for leveling on installation and a wrench on both flats for tightening...

Well I have no bias: I have an ATRS break on a 7mm Rem Mag... best money ever spent. Recoil is almost completely eliminated so that firing a shot feels kinda like someone tapping the muzzle with a hammer. I have not tried out too many other break designs, but the ATRS unit is by far the best of the few I have used. And it does not stir up any dust when shooting prone. I can't imagine a break doing a better job. The only downsides are that it adds a little bit of length to the barrel, and I think the shots are louder... it has been too long since I had it installed so I can't remember exactly. But most breaks will make the shots louder and all of them will add length, so there you go.

I guess I should add that the ATRS break I have been using is the one pictured in post #10, not the one in 24...

ALL brakes will greatly increase the percieved noise at the muzzle as the supersonic jet of gas that is following the bullet is being redirected to the side rather than downrange away from the shooter.
Hearing protection is strongy advised with shooting any rifle with a brake or flash hider on it.
