Muzzle device and accuracy

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge or know of any articles that would explain the relationship between muzzle devices and accuracy? As an example, would a brake with ports that were not symmetrical have a negative effect on accuracy?

In particular I am interested in AR style rifles.

AFAIK the primary change with muzzle devices would be altering barrel harmonics which might impact a specific load, but would likely not impact more than that. Keep in mind that by the time the brake is doing its thing, the bullet has already left the barrel, so I don't see how it could impact accuracy (other than altering the barrel harmonics as previously mentioned). Maybe someone else has some more insight in to the subject?

This is the biggest affect of putting a brake or suppressor or FH on the end of a barrel. As a weight, it can affect the load tuning of the barrel.

As long as there is enough clearance in the bore to clear the bullet, the brake has no affect on the passing bullet. It is better to have more then less clearance wrt to ensuring the bullet makes it safely downrange.
