Muzzle loaders? Anybody recommend a good one?

I have a hawkens traditional hammer gun
A cva eclipse magnum bolt gun (very accurate extremely cheap)
Cva kodiack
And a traditions buckstalker that I now use. It is the least accurate of the 4 ml I have but I love it. It feels great its light and short and will keep a 3-3.5" group all day at 100 yards. My eclipse will usually cloverleaf 3 shots but the barrel is so tight its a ##### to load. I just had a new trigger installed and haven't shot it yet but its very light trigger. My hawkens I love the look but the #11 caps suck. My kodiack I like. It shots 2-3" groups at 100 yards but my old man shortened the stock so I risk meeting the scope with my skull. The buckstalker I bought is cheap at$149 it has a bushnell 3-9 scope. Its a break action and the breech plug comes out easy for cleaning. Many newer rifles are backbored for easier loading with I find makes them less accurate. I use 777 for ease out hunting. I shoot 2 pellets and launch a platinum power belt 338gr bullet. I have yet to get one back from a deer. Great bullet amazing penetration and very accurate. If you use pyrodex you must has the darker side toward the primer. Personally I don't like TC guns. Cva's are cheaper and just as if not more accurate and they fit me well. I've never missed a deer with a ML and I've not lost one yet. Its fun and you will get a lot of enjoyment out them

At Cabelas the Impact can be purchased as a package with a scope for $299.
I was watching a while back a video on CVA's web site, and the two guys who were featured in these video's were saying that they liked to use .45cal because of the faster speed (= flatter trajectory), does anyone here think its worth getting a .45?

The Manitoba hunters guide is quoted here "the bore diameter must be a minimum .50 calibre for moose, elk or black bear and a minimum 0f .44 calibre for deer caribou and wolf

As far as in-lines are concerned, you are essentially looking at Cal .50 - the differences among the various TC (in-line) models are mainly in the overall design i.e.....

- Different type of barrels and stocks
- Not all models are equipped with the same type of iron sights
- Not all models are equipped with the (finger removable) XT Breech Plug
- Not all models are equipped with the same type of break action feature/mechanism and will vary from model to model as to what extent the "breech" may be opened.
- Not all models are equipped with the same type of ramrod

or the

CVA brand of MLs - I haven't personally handled one. However they claim that their breech plug is superior to that on the TC model. I believe the CVAs come with a clean barrel.

I have a CVA Optima pro i picked up on gun nutz. Great gun. The new QRBP on the CVA`s are great but have one problem. They do not work with Blackhorn 209 as they have been designed more for pellets. Basspro has specials on these guns during the fall classic. I also have a CVA Apex which is similar to the pro hunter/encore. if you are looking for a great gun pick on a cva accura 2. Great gun. I had someone design me a breech plug for my optima pro that works with blackhorn 209. CVA makes great muzzleloaders.
