Muzzle Loading 12 Gauge With a Surprise in the Barrel

You are not likely to need grease to push it all the way out, only to get it started -- 2-3 inches at worst.
That is the best sounding method I have heard so far.

How to get a 30" grease worm out of a barrel? What'll happen if I google it?

You unscrew the grease nipple, and push the grease back out using a ramrod and a patch. Some washing out with solvent gets the remainder. If you really want to be cheap, run a piece of tubing off the nipple hole and catch the grease in a tub for re-use.

Not near as messy as it sounds, and it gives a great deal more pressure, under much more control. It may also be the ONLY thing that can be sourced easily that will deal with pasted together powder charges that have been solidified by being wetted with oil or water, or doubled up then mangled, projectiles, too.

Cheers

Don't use heat to get the charge out of the barrel.
Man At Arms magazine editor told a story of a friend that had just purchased a gun in the same state as you have, and in the process of melting the bullet out of the gun, shot himself with a civil war era muzzleloader!
After being taken to the hospital, the police showed up, because the hospital MUST report every gunshot victim to the police. So, in addition to accidentally shooting himself, he also had to fill out a police report, to a couple of officers who had trouble not laughing at the poor guy.
The grease gun sounds like a much better solution to your problem than using a flame, even if it is just a little one.

I say take the wood off said shotgun and bake it in the oven at 500 degrees f. until the ball comes free of the barrel (or vice versa:p). Time it with an egg timer, make sure the wife is out of the house (it may smell bad after the discharge in the oven) and take a time laps video.
For a clean up (if there's anything left over), you guessed it...straight to the dishwasher with that bad boy. Lots of hot water and soap.

*Sigh, Makes me think of that poor M14.....
lol

WTF!? "melting the bullet out of the gun" like with a propane plumbers torch!? Darwin award recipient that one. S.M.R.T! Tell me truly, no-one is that dumb. It was just a story right?

@JoKa, :) that poor M14 indeed! Lol.

I am going to th grease nipple mod real soon. The ball in the bottom of the barrel appears to a hollow ferus metal of some sort. Dropping the bullet puller onto the ball with a bit of force, I managed to only dent it. I am thinking that one of the actors that was playing with the gun all of those years ago, probably dropped something down there to simulate a musket ball.
I will continue to treat it as loaded, during the nipple's removal and certain destruction.
