Been really wanting a Bug-a-salt and couldn't find one locally today, but I did come across some cotton cleaning pellets and came up with an eye-deer.

I load the .22 cleaning pellet into my 1322, then pour about a quarter tsp of ground up rice that's been whizzed in the magic bullet down the barrel, and finally ram in a small piece of paper towel for wadding, giver a full 10 pumps and wait for a fly to pizz me off.

Check out the damage pattern on a beer can at 3 feet away. WAY more powerful than a bugasalt. Dented the can in half and a bunch of the rice put holes in it. Been having a few beer and blowing up wasps all afternoon. Great fun.

The rice works amazing it seems, i sifted it in a strainer to get the dust out and use a playing card to scoop it up and pour it down the barrel. And I cut the cleaning pellets in half, because I'm cheap and get twice as many shots per package this way.

It's getting serious now.

Playing with different shot and other ideas, decided to try dipping one end of the cleaning pellets in non detergent SAE 30 to make them seal up better. This made a huge difference in power.

Also tried using #8 bird shot, repurposed as an 8 pellet bug load. Holy moly.
From 3 feet away it blew a huge hole in the can and all the pellets blew right through. Deadly. But only practical outdoors against larger pests. Not shooting flies in the house with this.

Starting to see this thing as an air powered micro muzzle loading shotgun

I'm not sure how expensive those cleaning pellets are but we always used Q-Tips cut in half for cleaning air rifle barrels.

That oil might be causing dieseling if the compression is high enough, that will really amp the power up.

I didn't even think of dieseling. Not sure if it did or not, only used it for a few shots and decided I didn't want to gum up the barrel and went back to dry pellets. I'm not trying to put holes in plywood or anything.

The cleaning pellets were I think about $5 for 100, but cut in half I get 200. For me, worth it to see the bugs disappear into a cloud of chitin and frass...
