I know there is a separate tread for these questions but I don't think that I would get the responses I would get in this thread. I got a TC Omega 50 cal.. for Christmas. I am kinda new to the muzzle loading sport its self but I am a very avid hunter. I was just wondering what kind of load combination everybody is using and if they use a scope or open sights. As of right now I think that i am going to use 130 grains of powder and 250 grain shock wave slugs with open sights. Later on I will probably end up getting a scope but right now I will just stick with the illuminated open sights. If you guys and gals can voice your opinions that would be awesome.

Sounds like you are on the right track with that load...Make sure you read alot about ML in general...777 vs. pyro (there is a difference in loose powder loadings).
Try to find someone to show you the basics (makes it alot easier). Remember...if you shoot it, clean it ASAP...NOT tomorrow. Have fun.

TC is a great choice, you won't regret it. :)

be careful if you're using high energy powder...ie if your rifle is only listed as safe for 150grs don't be putting 150grs of high energy powder in there, it's not the same. everyone i know uses hornady 240gr xtp in their ML's. i use 100grs of triple-7 in my optima and it groups roughly an inch at 100yds...put in 120grs and it's all over-more is not always better, it will take some experimenting on your part. have fun!

Your inaccuracy problems are more likely traced to sabot issues rather than too much powder, well, that and XTPs were never designed for those velocities. With sabots and bullets designed for higher velocites, there should be no accuracy issues with 150 grain powder loads.

The XTP is a great bullet, it was just never designed for high velocity loads. It is after all a pistol bullet.
 
You intend on using 130grs of what kind of powder? If it's Triple 7 then your max should be 120grs which equals 150gr pellets and I believe the same for Pyrodex RS.
What kinda scope are you going to use? I would try the Nikon Omega. With 250gr SST or Shockwave and a 3 pellets(150grs) or 120grs loose powder that scope, ml combo is ideally suited.
