muzzle velocity

I have a cronograph and want to know how to figure out muzzle velocity if you measure speed 10 feet away. Gord

There is such a little difference, that it is usually just ignored, and 10 feet away is considered muzzle velocity.

MV can be anywhere between 7-10 fps added to the indicated speed at the chronograph. Very little difference but you can fool with your ballistic tables by adding this amount.

Whatever the difference is, it falls within the "margin of error" capabilities of your chronograph. Ergo, by making an adjustment you can be decreasing the error or increasing it. Have fun.
