Muzzlebreak?

I don't know where you are located, but ATRS (Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply) in Calgary make amazing brakes! I have owned several different designs of theirs and they are all outstanding! They keep looking for ways to improve their design, but they are really splitting hairs, so don't worry about anything they have ever produced.

The one they put on my 7mm Rem Mag (now a slightly older design of theirs) turned my recoil into vibration. It honestly had no recoil whatsoever, it just felt like the barrel vibrated with each shot.

I have another ATRS brake on a .338 Lapua AI (6000ft-lbs muzzle energy), and while I have never shot a .22-250, I suspect the recoil would be somewhat comparable.
I had a change to try out my muzzle brake a few day ago, it work great, with 190grain 300winmag, the rifle din't even move, is noisy as hell, but it work great, I wouldn't of believe you until I try out mine. Now the goal is to reduce to noise to the shooter.

brakes

These are some of the brakes i am waiting for export permits on. The V-brake( 2nd and 3rd in) is said to be a 50/50 brake 50% recoil reduction and 50% decibal reduction "to the shooter" and at a reasonable price we hope :)
They are probably the nicest looking brake on the market.

If it reduces noise it is prohibited in Canada...

I don't think anyone should be too concerned with how loud a brake is to the shooter. If you are wearing hearing protection you will be fine. If you are not wearing protection, then even if you do not have a brake you will be damaging your hearing. Remember hearing loss is cumulative - every shot damages your hearing little by little over time.

The best option would be to decriminalize silencers, then you could have the best of both worlds (recoil and noise reduction).

I had a brake made and installed by a local smith for my 7mm rem mag parker hale. He asked me how aggresive I wanted it to be from light to jumps foreward, joking he was, when fired. I told him 3/4 reduction so he sez ok the hats off version then. Asked him what he was talking about, you will see.
Now the old shoulder crusher is a joy to shoot with a little more than .410 3'' magnum recoil and yes if your hat is'nt on tight it takes it off every shot.

I shoot my 300 win mag with a brake with ear plugs, then muffs over them. Just 30 db muffs still get my ears ringing...... Dont think about shooting a high power rifle with a brake without ear protection.(unless your life is in danger).... instant deaf for 3 days....

My brake is standard type, approx .300 holes perpendicular and all around the cylinder. Quite "standard".

Works really well though, id say it reduced recoil in half. With some lead in the stock and the brake, I can shoot 100 rounds of 300 mag and get no pain. Before that, I would shoot 5-6, finch and cry, and go home.

That is the case if you using TRG muzzle , you need something look like the savage 110ba muzzle brake, there is no dust kick up from the groun, the 2 on the left doesn't do that at all.
