Hi CGN I just wanted to post a little range report on my new MVP Scout Rifle w/ Vortex 2-7x32mm Scout Scope just to give you some ideas and thoughts on my new build. I've recently seen a few dealers post some adds on this rifle and wanted to share my thoughts. I put this rifle together for target shooting and hunting in the BC mountains, but I wanted to still have the use of my Ghost Ring & Front F.Optic (as I have walked up on deer in close range and we all know what happens when you look through a scope at a deer at 50 ft ,you just see brown fur, lol).

The bases I installed were the Leupold Rifleman Detachable See-Thru High Rings, which give me the option to use my sights at close range, as well as an easy head adjust to my scout scope at long range. These rings held true after putting 100 rounds down range and really held up well. I was a little worried at first thinking that with the scope being mounted a little high I might run out of adjustment and wondered if my eye was going to line up, but I had no issues with either and still had lots of adjustment left, if needed.

I did install a Precision Armament - 308 M4-72 Severe Duty Brake that I had lying around in my gun room, and to be honest, having such a short barrel I would not recommend using it unless you love the taste of burnt gun powder dust that comes with the minimal recoil this brake provide, lol.

I can't speak for any other Mossberg rifle (like the Patriot/Patrol etc...) and I'm not going to compare this rifle to other scout rifles but this rifle is a beauty to handle and shoots like a dream. Once I got it sighted in, I could easily and consistently ring the 8 inch dong at 300 yards. That being said, I'm not saying this rifle is a tac driver and I will have to spend more time working on loads etc..., but for a good target shooting/hunting rifle for the Mountains of BC or deep forest you honestly can't go wrong with combo like this.
